Tom Delay?

Don’t care. Don’t need him. He’s purely domestic, engaged in the day-to-day scrap. Power for its own sake.

I find it boring.

He’s given up the mission for the seat, mistaken the mandate for mere self-perpetuation. Ran on a plank, and then once in office sprinted away from it.

The Republicans took good notes, when the Dems were in power. Power corrupts, beat you to the door. What does the Republican Party stand for now, from a domestic standpoint anyway, under such leadership? A slightly less massive and intrusive government than their opponents? Only 75% of the increase in social spending, but with none of the taxes?

Weak beer.

Best for all to get this wake-up call. 2006 is just around the corner. The Republican majorities weren’t built upon presenting themselves as the pale shade of lesser Democrats.

Dans ce pays ci, c’est bon, de temps en temps, de tuer un amiral pour encourager les autres.” Voltaire, Candide

    Bravo Zulu Cap’n!

I find the blogosphere’s Right Wing making ‘herd mentality’ comments about Democrats. I think they doth protest too much when they expect similar beavior from their supposed colleagues.

I say it was better when two Texans would fight it out with Colt’s in the street!

Politics (especially Texas politics) makes most other “contests” seem more fair and above board (yeah Lex even dogfighting)

The termite killer will come out of this intact but the dems have gotten a punch in.
This Ronnie Earle feller is a weasel-wort if I ever saw one…He is the kind of prosecutor who really would indict a ham sandwich- just so he could say he did it. Didn’t he have something to do with the Rathergate B.S.?

The whole dam campaign financing game is FU’d. McCain-Feingold and other useless pieces of legislation just make things worse. Folks or businesses that want to spend their hard earned money to support candidates or parties ought to be able to…trying to level the playing field only makes it messier.

I ain’t part of any herd mentality Senior, but in my personal opinion, it shows piss poor judgement to call oneself a Democrat, especially in 2005…..

Lex…I’m a rock-solid conservative and generally end up voting a straight Republican ticket…..simply because it serves my purposes. However, I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m sick of voting for Republican candidates that promise to inact a conservative agenda but end up spending their entire time perpetuating their power. They’re a spineless lot that have completely lost their bearings.

  • I have to agree with Badbob. I don’t follow Delay enough to know anything about his general character or ethical history, but this indictment stinks to high heaven, and the most charitable thing I’ve heard a lawyer say about it is that the paper is very thin and they hope they’ll see some actual evidence in the future.

People in Delay’s level of politics make me very nervous, and I tend to assume their ethics and behavior are questionable at best, but I fully expect this indictment to be tossed the first day in court.

I have to also agree. This appears to be an indictment for political reasons that have very little to do with justice. If the indictment is tossed early I hope that Earle can be made accountable.

I know it’s very simplistic to say that any politician at Delay’s level probably is crooked and broken other laws but, unfortunately, that’s what popped into my mind first.

If I possibly gave the impression that I favor big government, Democratic or Republican, I do not.

The DHS, Dept of Education, the TSA and a myriad of other agencies which exist to distribute federal money are not neccesary IMHO. HLS was created 1 year after the election of 2000 purely in reponse to 9-11 and the other was grown by the Bush administration as part of his compassionate conservative brand. Hell, everything got bigger except the Armed Forces! On the other hand, what got smaller? Nothing. An article written by “Judge Napolitano” (that Fox News guy) called “Franklin Delano Bush” discussing GW’s new deal type policies doesn’t thrill me either.

What to do? I don’t know precisely but I have a gut feel conservatives need to get back to Ronald Reagan’s form of conservatism- pronto.

I do know one thing- if Kerry or Gore were in power things would be even more unpalatable; one must be pragmatic.
