Top iTunes Playlist

Saw the meme going down over on the NRO Corner – what’s your top ten iTunes play count? I was afraid to ask, but felt, you know: Like I owed it to you.

And life is a continuous surprise:

1) Kryptonite, Three Doors Down – 108 (I actually don’t dig it that much, it’s just the first song on my workout tunes playlist.)

2) Fall Down, Toad the Wet Sprocket – 108 (ditto)

3) Extreme Ways, Moby – 94 (made a DVD starring the Kat jumping fences on horseback with this in the background. That’s my story.)

4) In da club, 50 cent – 93 (I have no idear. I blame the Hobbit.)

5) Lose Yourself, Eminem – 92 (It really is a good motivational tune, when you’re pushing stacks around. Really.)

6) Days Go By, Dirty Vegas – 85 (That girl in the car commercial was kind of cute.)

7) Rock Superstar, Cypress Hill – 84 (Can’t really explain this one either.)

8) Pretty Piece of Flesh, One Inch Punch – 79 (Great movie. Romeo and Juliet, that is.)

9) Aenima, Tool – 76 (It’s a SoCal thing. You either get it, or you don’t.)

10) Runaround, Blues Traveler – 74 (Workout playlist. Again.)

It’s just. You know:

Embarrassing.

  • I recommend some Back in Black AC/DC and maybe some NIN to pump up your workouts.

Their new song Only kicks ass.

Cypress Hill… nice.. Tool.. even better! (and os so good in concert)

    Three Doors Down… 50 Cent… err.. umm…

I’d recommend Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rythym Of The War Drum by A Perfect Circle but I’m not sure you’d like the sentiment ;)

    Kevin -

I don’t know why but off With Teeth I really like Right Where It Belongs

  • Idaho Joe

Dont have an iPod and wouldn’t know how to use it if I did. Just got into CDs (great invention, the needle never skips across the vinyl!) and I’m still trying to figure all that out.

If any music is played in our house that was recorded after about 1975 it probably didn’t come from me. The albums from the Stones, Beatles, Bob Seger, America, Paul Revere, AC-DC, etc. are all mine.

Having said that I do kind of like the Bare Naked Ladies. I can see these guys sitting around and somebody says “Why do you guys want to be Rock and Rollers?” “Money, all the beer we can drink and all the bare naked ladies.” “Dude!, that’s a great name for the band!”

Okay, now we’ll return you to the discussion on music that came out after radial tires were invented.

It is refreshing to know that I am not the only one who has quite a few songs that would not be heard in polite society, but nonetheless make great motivational material. My personal favorites include Dragula, by Rob Zombie, and anything off of Ice Cube’s Predator.

I prefer an eclectic mix – keeps the mind sharp. Though I will say my hubby sometimes says he gets scared with some of the mixed CDs I burn for myself. Sometimes it’s all about Michael Buble and James Taylor; then again it’s about Eminem; then it’s Velvet Revolver and Coldplay. Music is too important to get bored with it – there is SO much to listen to and try. You go for it Lex – you and Fitty. Next time I drive by his Farmington, CT mansion, I’ll say hi forya!

I think the Tool song is actually called “?

  • MKL

I think the Tool song is actually called “Ænema”. Have you got the CD? With holograph on the inside that shows the West coast and when you tilt it most of Cali goes under water…

“Learn to swim, I’ll see you down in Arizona bay.”

I’ve heard that song about half a dozen times the past few weeks, is it wrong for me to say I thought of NO when I heard it?

Rage Against The Machine…saw them and Tool in the same concert 10 years ago…wow. Once you got past their stupid politics, RATM is pretty good. Same with System of A Down…

  • lex

MKL – thanks for the correction. I had the CD, laying around. I’ve gone entirely digital now though, it’s all hard drives and iPods. Isn’t the album also called “Aenema?”

Love RATM too, despite their politics. System of A Down I know only through my daughters. Guess I’m falling behind…

  • MKL

Yea that’s right Lex, “Aenima”. Can find some DLs of Tool and RATM playing together…I just pretend that the Machine to rage against is Liberal dogma…

System of A Down is good, stupid politics in some of their songs, one of the ones by them I like “BYOB” has lyrics about Iraq:

“Why do they always send the poor?” etc. Good song, nice beat and I can dance to it…haha…

Soldier in 2/299 (HNG) I send packages to told me they listen to all 3 of those bands at various times before missions so I guess the jokes on the bands…

You ever wonder if you’ll still be listening to these bands when you hit 65?!?

  • Sim

    Yep the album is ?

  • Sim

Yep the album is ænima too.

If you like RATM check out The Battle of Mexico City DVD, awesome performance.

When I was in college, a friend of mine with simpler tastes challenged me as to whether I would still be listening to AC/DC and Black Sabbath in my 40′s. I told him yes, but I was only half right ;-)

  • Bucky Katt
