Happy Belated Blog B-Day

To me!

Dern, I’ve always been bad at anniversaries.

7 OCT 2003, I joined the burgeoning ranks of the pajama clad unwashed:

“Didn’t much about stylsheets*,
didn’t know much about haloscan,
didn’t know much about the RSS,
thought I’d give you all a chance to test

Whether I’d love you and you’d love me,
been two years and now I still can’t see
what a wonderful blog this could be…”

(*I’d apologize to Sam Cooke, but you know, he’s beastly dead**)

(**Free trackbacks to anyone who gets the reference***)

(***No fair using google!)

Update: Maybe I was insufficiently precise...

It’s OK that you missed this one, after all it’s just you that is affected, but Mister you best not forget your wedding anniversary, the Hobbit (ie. THE BOSS, SHE WHO MSUT BE OBEYED, THE BETTER HALF) would not be pleased!!!! Anyway it’s been an interesting journey, looking forward to more!!

  • Happy! and many more…

Happy anniversary Lex, and a tip of my pint wishing many more!

What’s a free trackback? Trackback to an earlier time perhaps? Ah yes, shufflin’ in the sand of Wrightsville Beach to the sounds of Sam Cooke and “Wonderful Life”! heh! Or “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” from the Platters!

Yeah, 17, buff, and a summer lifeguard! Diggin’ on the ladies and having a blast. Clam bakes. Shrimp boils. Body surfin’ the storm surge.

Dancin’ under Mercer’s Pier with a bodaciously gorgeous young lady. With nuthin’ on but a smile!

Did I just say that out loud? ;-)

  • Congratulations!! 2 years! Outstanding Sir!!

And I can’t give you the reference, I just know for some reason I just heard the perfect music to those words. Dang it….now I’ll be rollin’ that around the old brain all night! :-)

  • Happy blog day. And the song is “What a wonderful world it would be”.

    don’t know much about history
    don’t know much psychology
don’t recall the french I took
    don’t remember any science book

What I do know is that I love you
And darlin’ if you love me too
what a wonderful world this would be

**as close as I can get without googling the lyrics

Wonderful WORLD! Ha! Guess Kat wins the trackback! :-)

    Wonderful Life….Jimmy Stewart…. naw, I’m not THAT old…… yet!

    Happy Blogoversary!

  • Darn – Kat beat me to it – and had more lyrics to boot!! ALthough I keep hearing the end of the second sentence as “biology” instead of “psychology” – or is that a different verse?

Now somebody tell me what movie(s) I’ve heard the song in. (No, really – please tell me!)

  • … and Happy Blogiversary!

  • cin

    Congratulations.

  • Kat’s right. That is EXACTLY the tune I had.

Barb – Witness had a great seen in it around that song. Amish mystery (how funny is THAT to say) with Harrison Ford and, oh, what’s her name?!?!?!

    Cap’n,

We Goat Locker denizens gather to extend our appreciation for your reasoned arguments and insightful essays.

    You do us proud.

Kelly McGillis, in a much better part than she played in TopGun. Probably my favorite scene where she and Harrison Ford dance to this song, playing on the car radio in the barn.

Congrats on the Blogiversary Capt. Lex!

  • Happy Blogday to you
    Happy Blogday to you
    Happy Blogday dear Le-ex
    Happy Blogday to you!

Now, I don’t claim to be a great blogger
    But I’m trying to be
For maybe, by being, a great blogger baby
I can win trackbacks for me

I was just saying to my husband how I don’t get how you do all the stuff you do…Cap’n in the Navy, grad school, two kids at home, the wife and, blogging some really great stuff (keep those chapters coming)!
I don’t know how, but I’m sure glad you do!
Best wishes for many more years at the keyboard!

I delayed putting a comment here because I wanted to find some clever way to say Happy Anniversary, but I haven’t really had the time.

I will just say “Congratulations! And may there be many more.” For if not for the creation of this blog, our paths would certainly have never crossed, and I would surely be the poorer for it.

  • Congratulations on your blogoversiary. I don’t get here often enough but each visit is enjoyable.
