Maybe. Just maybe…
Maybe Senator Reid’s apparently off-hand disclosure of the rumored death of Osama bin Laden in last month’s Pakistani earthquake, was intentional. Because otherwise, that information, had it been received in his official capacity as Senate minority leader would have been very highly classified and not ordinarily releasable in just this way.

At Moe’s on 21st Street in Norfolk:
Burrito: Whew. Thanks man. That foil wrapper was stifling.
Me: No worries.
Burrito: So. What brings you to town?
Me: Och. Day-and-a-half meeting with one or another of these cross functional team thingies of which the Navy has recently grown so fond. Complete with contractor-types left, right [...]
Only time for a(nother) brief note, as I am on a “working” lunch, in between yet another tedious series of PowerPoint presentations showing Just How Awful the financial straits are through which our Navy is navigating. I do believe it is compulsory for staff officers to either view or present at these end-of-the-world kabuki [...]
Nor long remember.
Still here. Thanks to those who sent along their thoughts, hopes and prayers. It is appreciated.
Leaving tomorrow for Norfolk (again: sigh). Back in a cuppla. Hopefully will have summat cheerful or at least worth reading on the return.
Went to church today. Don’t remember any of the lessons, nor really [...]
Don’t want to go into any details, suffice it to say that a thing which had been sufficiently worrying took a dramatic turn for the worse this weekend. I’ve been stretched a little too thin for quite some time now, and it’s time for me to shed some workload and re-prioritize my efforts. This [...]
Zarqawi pushing up daisies sandfleas?
Maybe – we’ve been around this block before, and I usually don’t post things like these. Have seen too many folks disappointed. Still having eight terrorists mort themselves rather than fall into custody does seem a rather unusual event.
Cross your fingers!
Update: Goldstein comments on Zarqawi’s family [...]
Brought to you by the Weekend Edition of the Wall Street Journal (free minds and free markets!):
Did you realize that only 23% of the population of mainland China falls under the definition of “middle class”?
Poor bastards.
On the other hand, do you grok the fact that’s still 300 million people?
In other [...]
I was trolling the Navy news website this morning, as is my custom, and chanced across this image of a VF-213 F-14D Tomcat coming into the break overhead the USS Theodore Roosevelt, and of course this photo of a D-model kerplunking heavily into the arresting wires (as is their custom) and it all made [...]
It’s a little known fact that:
Clyde Barrow, of Bonnie and Clyde fame, was 5’7″ tall and weighed 125 pounds.
His brother Melvin clocked in at 110.
Tough, growing up in the depression.

Credo "Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier
