Embedded within the accompanying death notice of the CD industry is the news that the CDs of Mariah Carey and 50 Cent are the most popular albums of the year.
Westoxification indeed.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

More and more people may be downloading and/or burning music more than they buy CDs.. but for me the reason I buy fewer CDs is…
I don’t think there is much out there worth spending my money on.
“I don?ɬ
“I don’t think there is much out there worth spending my money on.”
You know you are getting old when you start bitching about the popular music.
(speaking from experience here and happen to heartily agree!)
When did 50 Cent stop recording obscene rants and start making music?
I’ve bought 2 CDs in the past 6 months – a VAST departure for us. We used to buy up to 40 CDs per year. And the 2 we bought were by the same artist (Jamie Cullum – if you haven’t heard him, check him out he’s amazing…). Downloads as well have become more the norm in our house.
If I buy a CD it’s likely to be for a Christian artist.
For that matter, the only time I bought large amounts of CD’s I was in Germany without a decent radio station (AFN does _not_ count as a decent radio station).
Since I came back to the states and found places that played songs I liked, I haven’t bought much at all.
I took this stupid ass “what hit 2005 song are you” quiz, and it gave you all these choices about which “artists” you would be more likely to listen to.
I knew I was getting older, but for heaven’s sake… I didn’t hardly recognize any of the “artists” mentioned!
I dunno Jeff. I just bought the new Carrie Underwood CD (HIGHLY recommend!) and another Keni Thomas CD to replace the one my daughter’s girlfriend (one of my “other” 13 daughters that I seem to have taken to raise!) just had to “borrow”!
There’s some really good music out there. But you really have to look for it!
Or ask your kids “Who is that?” so you can figger out just who it is you like!
I haven’t heard much good rock lately though. There’s a channel on Sirius sat radio called “Classic Vinyl” that I listen to. A lot! But I haven’t found much really good stuff. Bo Bice’s new CD sounds pretty good and I may pick that one up next. Just an old Southern Rocker at heart!
