Real life

Real life interfering with a blogger’s time is how a blog dies, you know.

Well, that and thunderclap strokes, etc. Car crashes.

Irritable bowel syndrome.

Which when you put it that way means we should all consider the lillies of the valley.

Whatever that means.

Speaking of counting one’s blessings, how unfair is this? Lady spends nine grueling years taking care of her paralyzed husband and succumbs herself 17 months later to lung cancer – at age 44! – never having smoked herself.

Just doesn’t seem right.

Here’s wishing you health, wealth and happiness so we can all continue to receive the gift of your insightful observations and wonderful sea stories. May you never suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, hemhorroids, colo-rectal cancer or other horrible afflictions of the lower digestive tract. Other people can be enough of a pain in the ass.

I wept when I heard about Dana Reeve – for all that she gave up to take care of Christopher Reeve, for all that she became because of that and for all the promise that remained for her to fulfill and for their 13 year old son, now without both parents to guide him thru the next phase of his life. A life most certainly cut short before she had a chance to live it. Dana Reeve is the kind of role model we ALL need in our lives. What a terrible loss for her family, for her friends and for humanity.

Lex, May you always sail on a beam reach in blue skies and gentle seas.
If I may be permitted to wax philosophical a moment: God doesn’t DO fair, otherwise we all would have been created as Seraphim, or as a minimum, be permitted to choose our parents before we are born. One of the great mysteries of the gift of life. Gotta wait for the real answers. That is the hard part. God bless Dana Reeve as she showed the world what real love is.

Uh, just read your latest and greatest. I will quietly leave the pulpit now…..

There really is no such thing as ‘right’ when it comes to who gets the randomly selected long life and who get the randomly selected short life. Life is cruel for many whilst the rest of us avoid the fact that it can all be snatched away tomorrow.

God rest Dana’s soul and give her peace.
