Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Excellent! Loved it! Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this – I loved the scene of the USNS Mercy out to sea – quite a site to see when you consider where she was headed.. and why…
B
That was very cool. Thanks for sharing Captain.
Not just for the “naval soul” Captain – I’m moved to tears with this. Amazing and thank you.
Oh, to be young and stupid again. Remember the first deployment? The anticipation, the yearning to be shed of the land’s bounds on your body? And the first time you are completely surrounded by the waves with nothing but your ship, your shipmates and your wits to draw you onward. If you weren’t so busy, you could even enjoy it.
This was a great tribute, CAPT. I long to return. Alas, I am too old and too wise. I know I could never again do what these youngsters do every day and do it the justice they deserve.
“Give me a fast ship, for I intend to go in Harms’ Way.”

PS, what a hotdog in the barrel roll, and what nuts in the reenlistment ceremony via parachute! The country is in great hands.
Subsunk-Amen brother!
Loved the UNREP photos too..
WOW
That’s incredibly cool! I wish I could slow it down to take more time to read the captions and study the pictures more. Does anyone have it in slide show format?
*picky picky, i know… but i *am* a princess after all*
Be nice if the photos could keep up with the show… every so often the window goes black and I have to pause to let it catch up.
And with a 45Mb pipe here at work, I don’t think it’s my lack of capacity.
I wonder if the Army does anything like this?
There was a “pause” button on the slideshow when viewed from home last night, Were-Kitten.
I’ll have to look for that, Lex.
Jeff-
Yes. The Army has its own version. Follow this link: http://www4.army.mil/yearinphotos/2005/slideshow.html
It starts out with the song “Like A Rock”… perfect.
In the slide above, does anyone know why the lead ship is flying the ensign off of the port yardarm and that the trailing ships are flying it off of the starboard?
Thanks
Terrific show! Thanks for posting the link, Sir. I looked, but couldn’t find a ‘pause’ feature.
The pause/play button is at the lower left, right above the “small/large.”
Great stuff CAPT Lex.
Haze grey and underway…..Battle ensigns streaming…..HOO f’n YAH!
Almost makes one long to get back in harness again. Congratulations on a magnificent year, brothers and sisters. From our own backyard, to the far corners of the world, service above self.
GO NAVY!!
TM3 out!
