Wow - got the latest Economist magazine in the mail today. Guess who was on the cover?
Must have had that one in the can. Just in case.
I remember reading somewhere that the news media have advanced copies of obituaries on file - just in case - for elderly heads of state, former famousities and anyone else of note whose health or lifestyle indicated a better than even chance of stepping into the clearing at the end of the path. Or not.
With Zarqawi gone, some analysts said bin Laden’s allies would try to re-exert strategic influence over the remains of the al-Qaeda network in Iraq. If al-Qaeda fails to maintain a high-profile stake in the conflict with U.S. forces in the region, the analysts said, its relevance in the jihadist movement will quickly diminish.
Yeah, that’s it. Re-establish contact. In fact, I’ll let you borrow a cell phone. And you may want to update your press portfolio, get a recent head shot on file, something flattering.
You know: Just in case.

Yup, Lex. They’ve got most notables canned. Know it for a fact. Each cable news outlet has a 30 or, usually, a 60 minute obit/bio canned. Prioritized by age/health etc. Death Pools are common.

Gotta be canned. Like Steve says…his pic looks nothing like the one from his more recent “press release.”

Death pools are very common. Hopefully, the Economist Magazine has one for the next Al-Qaeda leader.
