    Well spoken, Sir.

Sometimes it’s true - a picture is worth a thousand words.

    Good on ya Cap’n.

Mr. Keller to one side, the Executive branch needs to launch a full court press to perp walk the leakers and send them to jail. Saying that, I don’t have much hope when you review the “punishment” Sandy Burger got for walking out of the archives with documents in his socks (and elsewhere).
This is such a sad state of affairs…

How many millions did we as a country spend (and are still spending) to nail down who leaked Valerie Plame’s identity? To my mind, we should be spending not one penny less to discover, try and convict the leakers of the traffic-analysis and the financial-methodologies leaks. Right? Or is this merely one more double standard. Leaking the id of a supposed covert agent who just happens to spend apparantly all her time manufacturing liberal-leaning news events inside the beltway (shouldn’t a covert agent be overseas someplace gathering intelligence?) is very bad and should be pursued, while leaking details of active secret programs that are actually hurting our enemies is not worthy of investigation? Where are the calls for an independent prosecutor? Why isn’t “Mr. Keller” in jail? Has he not yet been asked to name his sources?

    Erm, I don’t get it…?

When a service member dies, the honor guard folds the flag and presents it to his family. My point is that because of Bill Keller’s decision to air secret elements of a successful anti-terrorism effort, funds that would have been traced, and financiers that would have been tracked, will now be free to move their blood money around in different ways.

More innocents will die. More soldiers too. But hey: The public had a right to know!

Ann Coulter makes a somewhat legitimate point when she complains of the “Jersey Girls” ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú those vocal and activist widows who lost husbands in 9/11. She feels they gain an unfair and regrettable advantage in promoting their controversial views, because “you can’t attack widows.”

Similarly, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is able to shield criticism and promote her positions by capitalizing upon the tragic loss of her son.

Now I see you use the striking and unassailable image of the flag-carrying Marine. Just as Ms. Coulter objects to widows relying on slain husbands to make their point; and just as the Right objects to Ms. Sheehan similarly using her late son; I too object to your unfortunate and improper use of the iconic Marine image, merely to underscore your animosity toward Keller and the Times.

Long time readers know that I’m no particular fan of Coulter’s, and believe her latest comments were well out of bounds. Cindy Sheehan is a poor, deeply silly and benighted woman who is being cruelly used by others for their own purposes, and about whom far too much has already been said.

If Keller’s actions have the effect that I believe that they will, that I and others have argued they will, more Marines, soldiers and innocents of every stripe will die. This is the point of my animosity towards Keller and the Times. Of course, it could be that I’m wrong, and that revealing classified means and methods which were - as Keller agonizingly admitted - legally used to successfully prosecute the war on terror will have no effect on their efficacy. I just don’t see how, and I don’t see that he particularly cared.

Your objection is noted. No action taken.

    Fair enough.

Ahh, I knew what the pic was of, just didn’t know who Keller was.

Lex - thank you for saying it and so well, as usual.

    Shipmates,

More to the point, the NYT’s article exposing this well-run and legal course of action is awash in hypocrisy. The plan outed by the NYT is exactly the sort of action they were demanding the US take after 9/11…..

    Respects,

    AW1 Tim

Were Mr. Keller to read the post and see the cartoon, he won’t be affected by the point of it. His unbrided arrogance has blinded him to common sense.

Well said Lex! I keep waiting for the Leftists in the media to realize that they are doing nothing more than signing our death warrants. The administration should immediately call for an investigation into who leaked this information. Then when they find out who did it, they and Mr. Keller should be locked up for life (however long that might be — I would be pleased if they got the death penalty).
