An entirely different road to Damascus

File under: Oh, my God that was really close in restrospect -

Speaking for a congressional candidate in Detroit, the junior senator from Massachusets had the good grace to praise the President’s handling of the fight between our allies in Israel and the terrorist state-within-a-state Hezbollah (while charmingly engaging in a becoming self-deprecation) thusly:

“If I was president, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John’s bar and grill in Detroit’s Cass Corridor.

Well, no – he didn’t actually do any of those things, because you can’t hide class, manners and good breeding. But on the other hand, he still hasn’t shared his secret plan for ending the war in Iraq, which, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s high time he let bygones be bygones and spilt those beans before they get stale.

How would the junior senator from Massachusets have averted the brawl?

Hezbollah guerillas should have been targeted with other terrorist organizations, such as al-Qaida and the Taliban, which operate in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Kerry said. However, Bush, has focused military strength on Iraq.

“This is about American security and Bush has failed. He has made it so much worse because of his lack of reality in going into Iraq.‚ĶWe have to destroy Hezbollah,” he said.

I see. We would have gone to war in Lebanon, rather than letting Israel fight its own fights with those sworn to their destruction. That would have made things better.

Wow.

  • Mighty fine of the junior Senator from Mass. to set aside partisanship and offer his services to the Prez…oh wait, he didn’t? Well, guess it is always easier/safer to throw rocks from the safety of one’s backyard…

    Shipmates,

One can only hope that when liveshot left the Bar that the Senior Senator offered to drive…..

    What a maroon….

So why is it that the world’s greatest Navy can also produce Carter and Kerry? Is Kerry maybe angling for a shot at the Commandant’s job at Annapolis?

Kennedy = bad swimmer = MURDERER.

Sorry for my Anti-Murderer politician stance (not really)

  • riceburner147

AND….There was another murderer who took the road to Damascus. “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me ?. Later (as we all know) He was known as Paul the Apostle.

And…just to continue to NOT follow the thread, (my bad) When Jesus spoke to the Roman Centurion and said (Matt 8: 5 – 13

“5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6″Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.”

7Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”

8The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

13Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.”

    THATS following orders ! WOW.

BTW: It just occured to me why I submitted that comment above. Cause it is often thought (by Libs) that the New Testament scriptures are (completely) anti-war. This is just NOT true. Here, Our LORD “fails” to condemn the “Centurion” (who was prolly the equal of Marines 2day) for His work. Jesus knew (better than most of us) that war, while horrible, is part of the human condition. Ahhhhh, I am ramblin, bye !

    Yo,Elmo,

Was there supposed to be a comment from you somewhere? Because all I got from your post was a link to some liberal drivel…..

Are you trolling for traffic or what?

    Bad form.

“If I were President this never would have happened”

Did you ever stop to think, Senator, that that’s the reason you aren’t President?

    Lex,

That comment, with the address, has been showing up in the comments of a lot of conservative bloggers.

Now, back to the topic, Senator Kerry. I suspect he actually believes his own drivel. He knows that his election would have brought economic prosperity, a cure to cancer, the restoration of wildlife habitat, and peace in the Mid-East. Then after taking care of those things in his first 100 days, he would have tackled the real issues and found a cure for death.

He now walks through life wondering if he should use his god like power to help the people that rejected him.

    What a moonbat.

    Semper Fidelis,

Come on guys, Kerry was the kind of “leader” way-back-when, when a “troop” let guys like him “walk on the trails”. He’s arrogant, stupid and self-serving. He hasn’t changed. We diminish ourselves and elavate him by argueing with the idiot.

“If I were president, this wouldn’t have happened.”

To quote one of my mom’s friends, “If my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle.”

  • Kris, in New England

    I liked this one – “…Kerry lost by a narrow margin…” um…yeah. right.

And this one – “…plans to seek the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 2008…” I didn’t know about. Ick.

So he wasn’t humiliated enuff in 2004 he has to go back for 2nds in 2008. He doesn’t learn his lesson very well, does he.

It’s two things for me: First, I think he actually believes this to be true – that if he’d been elected, everything would have been OK, and now it’s not. That’s simply egomania, by no stretch a unique characteristic among politicians (and fighter pilots, for what that’s worth).

But the worse part is that, believe it or not, he actually said it. Out loud. Where the rest of the world would find out about it.

That’s poor judgment, and we dodged a bullet.

  • tblubrd

Let’s see now, does this mean that Kerry would have voted for invading Lebanon and then voted against it after we got there? Or do I have that backwards?
Or does it matter which way it is?
