WASHINGTON // Democrats chastised Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld for questioning the historical grasp of those who criticize the Bush administration’s handling of war, accusing him yesterday of engaging in “dangerous business.”
DEMOCRATS LAUD RUMSFELD’S CALL FOR REALISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE TEST
Seven Democratic members of the House Armed Services Committee this week urged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to conduct an integrated missile defense test that more closely reflects real-world conditions than assessments have offered to date. The call for more challenging tests comes as the Missile Defense Agency makes final preparations for an Aug. 31 flight test of an interceptor and target missile, in which a direct hit is believed “possible” but is not the primary object.
