Democrats scold Rumsfeld for remarks about critics

Democrats chastised Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld for questioning the historical grasp of those who criticize the Bush administration’s handling of war, accusing him yesterday of engaging in “dangerous business.”

DEMOCRATS LAUD RUMSFELD’S CALL FOR REALISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE TEST

Seven Democratic members of the House Armed Services Committee this week urged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to conduct an integrated missile defense test that more closely reflects real-world conditions than assessments have offered to date. The call for more challenging tests comes as the Missile Defense Agency makes final preparations for an Aug. 31 flight test of an interceptor and target missile, in which a direct hit is believed “possible” but is not the primary object.

Wish they’d make up their minds – love Rumsfeld or hate him… oh wait, that would imply thinking on their part… ;-)

“It is a dangerous business to accuse those who disagree with you of moral and intellectual confusion,” said Rep. Ike Skelton of Missouri, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee.
“Debate in our democracy is based upon respect, not vilification.”

Hmmm….not a Republican, myself but… perhaps the Democrats should also practice what they preach. Maybe Ike’s mother didn’t teach him to pick his words carefully, lest he be forced to eat them someday.
