Lileks always cuts through the chatter to calm reality: ‘you and what army of winged monkeys?’ He’s been my sanity check since shortly after 9-11.
I’m going to have to disagree with Lileks on this one, for two reasons.
1) One of our great strengths (especially in our armed forces) is the ability to analyse our mistakes and take corrective action. No analysis, no corrective action. Knowing who did what (or didn’t do what) and why is a vital part of that analysis. The voting public needs to have an understanding of what occurred so they can be part of that process.
2) The same people who are throwing a fit about ABC airing a TV movie that shows them in a bad light concerning 9/11 are the same ones that are doing their utmost to undermine the work of the current administration to defeat the terrorists and defend the nation. Their hypocracy needs….has to be exposed to prevent that same crowd from getting back in power and leaving us open to attack….again.
Call me partisan, but I believe in fighting fire with fire and holding those who are negligent accountable for their actions. Otherwise, history will repeat itself.
