First, the Brits give Hong Kong back to China, and for my fish and chips, the place has never been the same since.
Then the Thai military does what they’re apparently best at, and topples their lurching, but democratically elected government. That was bad enough. By the way, how would you like to live somewhere that the playing of patriotic songs is a universally recognized signal that a coup is in process?
And then an Australian court decides to give Perth away. Perth, of all places.
Perth!
Or “give it back,” I guess I should say, to the aboriginal people. Residents of the Western Australia capital, the Jewel of the Pacific (at least in Lex’s fevered dreams) are said to be “concerned.”
I should think so. I’m concerned. After all, I’d fully expected Perth to be my second city in retirement. Or first city, if the locals get tired of me here.
(I)ndigenous leaders appealed for calm and said they were “not after people’s backyards or their farms”.
“We’re after recognition and if we get any type of benefit, it’s to run businesses and train our people,” Ted Hart, of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, told the Australian newspaper.
Well, so long as they don’t muck up my retirement home, I guess I’ll be OK with it. But I’m keeping an eye the situation, and I don’t think I’m the only one.

Gee. Two of my favorite westpac cruise ports. You can bet business in Bangkok won’t be affected. As to the other, I guess it’s because Perth is on the left coast..down under.
B2
Pfft, that jusgement will have zero effect, frankly I’d expect either it’s been over hyped or it’ll be quashed.
Regardless of the ruling there’s another three hurdles I can think of before they could claim native title.
In any event it doesn’t apply to most of the land (anything under freehold etc)
In summary, they can get stuffed.
i envision lots of casino action and tax free smokes…
Perth. ‘Puuhhthhhhh.’ Could never get the correct Aussie pronunciation. Kinda rolls off the tongue like a purring cat or Daffy Duck with a lisp [lithp].
Hellavu nice place and nice folks, tho.
If Heaven has a port, prob’ly looks like Perth.
Glad you all enjoyed Perth, otherwise I’d have to sick the mother and Grandmother on you
Not to be trifled with, believe me.
