Navy – Notre Dame

I’ve got a feeling this year. A good feeling. A feeling that we’re going to win, finally. Beat ‘dem Irish after all these years.

I don’t care about their 6-1 record. I don’t care that they’re ranked #8 in the country. I don’t care that we’re 5-2 and lost to Rutgers for God’s sake. Or that we lost a starting quarterback in that game. Or that we haven’t beaten them in the last 42 match-ups.

I’ve got the Oracle on my side.

And she’s never been wrong. She told me: Blue and Gold are the winning colors this year. BLUE AND GOLD!!!

So there, Irish persons.

BEAT NOTRE DAME!

Wow, she’s really going out on a limb to predict blue and gold will win.

Game watch at hennessey’s downtown if you want to come.

  • lex

Ah, you know how those oracles can be. But as for hennessey’s, sounds like fun! If I can get free from the crushing burden of catching up on homework.

    Ugh.

  • RPL

Would it make any difference if I were to point out that the oracle of Delphi had visions after inhaling vapors from the ground? Basically, the poor girl was stoned out of her mind.

That being the case, I hate Notre Dame, and I hope she’s right. Go Navy!

  • Eric

Blue and Gold already beat Notre Dame once this year!

She’s the very picture of a sailing man-o-war figurehead. With her tank top steering “full and by”…the wind, of course.

    GO NAVY

  • Maxfield Parrish must be spinning…

  • Dave

“Rutgers for God’s sake” is 7-0 and is the real deal this year. No shame in that one.

*whispers in Lex’s ear….blue and gold baby… blue and gold…..*

    re- “lost to Rutgers”
33- Zip ain’t “lost to” that’s slaughtered by. Big East is suprisingly strong.

I don’t know who that gal is sitting on what looks to be the “seat of ease”, but she appears to be more human scrifice, ala the Inca’s or Mayan’s, vice an Oracle.

Tell me again why the 4000 “person” Naval Academy needs to be in Div-1?

    Eric-

I am sorry, but you are sorely mistaken. In these here parts (being SE Michigan), that’s Maize and Blue…

    Anyway, GO NAVY!!!

  • Kyle

Navy needs to be Div-1 because we are 5-2, 8-4, 10-2, and 8-5 in the last four years in Div-1, also the D1 football program happens to pay for 30 other non-revenue sports without a federal tax dollar in sight. Try doing that as a I-AA, won’t happen.

  • Mark

U-S-C :-) Lex, why waste your time watching that game, do something constructive, get your sticks & lets go to Torrey ;-)

  • lex

    The University for Spoiled Children?

And TP sounds goood right about now. Being in class.

    Ugh.

  • Mark

LOL, I’ll remember that next time I see my niece, she’ll love it.

  • badbob

re- “happens to pay for 30 other non-revenue sports without a federal tax dollar in sight”

Oh. Wow…. Sort of like a giant MWR, eh?

    Badbob,

I’m sure you’ve been told this many times before, you’re a nearly perfect ahole.

  • badbob

Not that many times Bill C. At least to my face Mr. C! “Perfect” never entered into it either. Butt thanks!

I’ll desist now and let you sensitive Boat Schoolers carry on. Sorry to piss on your parade.

  • lex

I dunno. As I recall, in simple fighters being called an “ahole” was kind of a chuck under the chin – meant you were part of the club.

Wasn’t like that in light attack, though. And in strike fighters we were too busy saving the world (and begging for gas) to give anyone else a hard time.

You never knew who you might piss off, and later see again overhead at angels 6…

  • nose

    Bill – try decaf.

    B2- LOL, again.

Lex – Defending Bob and Tomcats? What’s gotten into you? You sound like Ima Fake…

I will be watching from the aft deck of the “Barco Sin Vela”, while watching the Blues airshow thang.

Only two games worth watching, and this is one of ‘em! I especially like how the Head Coach of ND cut off a TV interview last year, to join his team singing with the Navy team. Said it was more important for him and his team to pay respects.

I hope the Navy can do it in ’06!

  • Babs

I attended Navy/Air Force a few weeks back. So sorry to say that Navy couldn’t pass if their life depended on it (which it did against Rutgers)… They have a great ground game this year, grinding out 3-5 yds again and again but, football in the air, ain’t gonna happen… Terrific punter, actually better than the punter for the Broncos. But, he’s not gonna win games for you…
I’ll be up at West Point for the Air Force/Army game, rooting for Air Force! If they win then the CIC trophy is all but in the bag for Navy. However, I have huge doubts about Navy against N.D.

    GO NAVY!

  • I’m pulling for Navy to beat Notre Dame this year and end the drought. Yes, you are hearing this from a once beleagured Rutgers fan but I’ll take the Middies over the Irish any day.

    Go, Navy!

  • Eric-

Mich. fans may curse you for calling the maize, of maize and blue, gold.

    But that aside:

    Go ND!
God, Country, Notre Dame doesn’t really apply to football.

  • badbob

I’m well armored Nose. Those who live by the sword gotta expect sopmeone’s gonna jab at ‘em once in a while! I understand fully that you can’t come into a Booster Club meeting and badmouth the hometeam…

Did you notice Lex pricked everyone in 3 simple sentences? But of course that is why I have submitted to HORNET Sharia Law!

I’ll say this. If Navy wins, I’ll eat goatmeat (horrible stuff, ever try it?), over a hibachi, with my fingers!

    Go Navy!

Noun 1. maize – tall annual cereal grass bearing kernels on large ears: widely cultivated in America in many varieties; the principal cereal in Mexico and Central and South America since pre-Columbian times.

    Scarlet & Gray here, bullnav.

    Lex,
I hope Navy is as succesful as my Hokies were last night.

  • Dear Dear Lex. You know I’ve been reading you forever (even if I don’t comment like I used to) You know I love ya Dude.

All that being what it is – I’m gonna be in South Bend tomorrow, in fact leaving from work tonite. I’m within spittin’ distance of my beloved Golden Dome (no bias here). I was at the Navy game last year.

You stand no chance. No chance. No chance. I’m sorry, because you know what a fan I am of our military – but DON’T MESS WITH MY IRISH!!!! This is all about the football.

    Sorry ’bout your luck….

    ;-)

  • badbob

Hey y’all! N.D. has Navy R.O.T.C, doesn’t it? LOL. What did that Rodney King dude say?

    B2

  • Is that woman missing her upper legs or is Lex just not very good at photoshopping fake dresses onto sitting painted ladies?

  • B2-

I was in the ND NROTC unit. Freshman year, they take you into the stadium at the beginning of the year, reaffirm the glorious duty you are volunteering for, and then ask you who you are to root for during the Navy/ND game.

Before you can even start to answer, the shouts come:
“NOTRE DAME! The *Academy* is filled with Academy Middies, it does *not* command your loyalty!”

    One for the Navy!
    One for the Marine Corps!
And ONE FOR THE LADY ON THE DOME!
    GO ND!

    :-D

  • Bill C

Lex, I used the term ahole because I wasn’t sure about the rules. What I really meant to say was a complete prick.

  • Bill C

    Lex,
Concerning my previous post, I forgot to add “a dumb one to boot”.

  • Kevin

Pigboat, what year? I was ’86.

If the Irish sweep the academies this year, does that mean we get the CiC trophy?

  • This is always a tough game for a girl from Boston whose father and favorite consort arae Navy. I need a drink.

  • Mark

B2, I know I’m going to hate myself for asking, what is “MWR”,? It seems to have really gotten under BC’s skin. Nose the de-caf’s not working, any other brilliant suggestions ;-)

  • Kevin

MWR = Morale recreation and welfare. It’s an organization that pays for things like gyms and pools on bases. Most (all?) of it’s funding comes from the on-base exchanges.

  • Dan

Well, we thought we had a chance till the second half.

    Next year perhaps, next year.
