was really just bluffing the answer, trying to remember the little bits they crammed into my noggin at AGOS, where many was the time i was able to work into the conversation a phrase such as, "GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY", on much more slender pretext than this.

Permissive environment. Total air dominace (well at least above 15K)

Are they firing rockets 2.75/3.0 or guns? Doesn't sound like guns (no ziiiip). I'm assuming it's a Hornet (if it's Navy, what else). What am I missing?

Concur on the flares. Looks like a 8-10K pickle. If they're shooting rockets it probably isn't CAS Snake, plus those two camera operators don't sound like JTACs.

Hey all you Army guys,

Why the rush to judgement and the assumption that the utterances of the appreciative audience were in fact Army? They could be Marines, and remember the Marine Corps is just part of the Navy.....(Incomplete sentence will, follwing a semi-colon, permit Marines and former Marines the chance to complete it, with their usuual refrain.)

To the Navy Team, on Saturday your signal is "Buster" - Golf Oscar / November Alpha Victor Yankee / -- Bravo Echo Alpha Tango / Alpha Romeo Mike Yankee !!

Wouldn't that make a great "spirit video" to show during the game? You know, put a little "From x Batt, Y Infantry Co, US Army, Iraq" graphic up, and then the final run with the appropriate cheer. Would beat the heck out of those staged things they do.

MajMike, The current definition of CAS makes sense if you equate the air platform in the video and it's standoff weapons systems with an artillery fire base supporting ground troops over a wide area. Thanks for the clarification... In olden times however...the observer, the target and the air platform often had a much more intimate relationship. Best

CAS defined by distance from observer to target, not platform to target...

...and that comment merely to permit me to echo Snake Eater w/o seeming gratuitous in saying.. GO ARMY ..BEAT NAVY
