…is fair play.
A pair of leftish Canadian documentarians set out to do a hagiography of Michael Moore. Being honest sorts, they soon find out that there is much less to Moore:
Michael Moore, the celebrated left-wing film-maker, has become the unwilling subject of a new documentary that raises damaging questions about the credibility of his work.
The director and star of successful documentaries such as Roger & Me, Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore has repeatedly been accused by his right-wing enemies of distorting or manipulating the material in his films. On his website he dismisses his critics as

Well, duh!
I guess there’ll be an empty seat next to Jimmah at the ‘08 Dem Convention.
More’s,Moore’s the pity.I’m shocked and appalled…
Hey, we may be lefties, but we’re fair, logical, insightful lefties (you know, like me
…..they’re the only kind I let in my house.
Yep, fair, logical insightful lefties….. unlike those south of the border. (Tee hee hee)
And now those fair, logical, insightful lefties will be branded as uber patriots (can you be an uber patriot for another country?) and raving mad neocons……….just like I was once, true story.
“can you be an uber patriot for another country?”
Michelle,
In the Anglosphere, yes –I think you can. And it goes both ways:
‘O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.’
Its not just a lyric, it’s the truth. And it isn’t jingoism either, just a personal knowlege of the very best another country is capable of. And the committment to stand by those who protect that country as fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Not complicated at all.
OK…I googled “mendax,” just to confirm my assumption that it’s the latin root for “mendacity.” In so doing I came across this pretty cool translation site for latin phrases.
And I agree with Cpt J, Michelle. I know the words to “O Canada,” too, what with going to a lot of hockey games at The Joe back when the Toronto – Detroit rivalry was in full bloom!
Ahhh….friends. And good neighbours. There’s nothing like them!
Michelle,
Good neighbors, eh?
Trust me, up here in Maine, Canuk is a second language, and your quarters always work in our machines
Respects,
“new documentary that raises damaging questions about the credibility of his work…”
Did anyone ever accuse him of having credibility?
AW1 Tim – whereabouts in Maine? My mom lives in Belfast and Maine has been a fave destination for me for neary 25 years – Boothbay “Habah” and “Bah Habah” to be specific. My sister snowmobiles in Millinocket. We are all Maine-rs from a distance…
Kris, Arguably we are all Maine-rs???… from a distance…the people who live there, god help them, are without a doubt MAINACS. Best
Kris,
I live in Bath. Literally across the street fron the south gate of the Iron Works.
Mainiacs… Ayuh, yessuh… That’d be us…
If you find yourself headed down this way, give us a shout. We’d be happy to stand you to lunch, or a pint or three…..
Respects,
Michelle, I always liked “The Maple Leaf Forever” better; not only is it a better tune, but also politically incorrect:
It ignores Quebec.
Sorry, I’m a bit autistic and say what I think. The Budweiser helps, too.
I supose I will never be considered an uber patriot (for my own country) if I admit that although the title sounds familiar, I really know neither the song nor the tune……… Nope, better not admit that!
The beer by the way should be Canadian, Keiths (Those Who Like it, Like it a Lot) or Blue – although I must admit that personally I only like the latter.
So what’s with you guys and Quebec??
“So what?
“So what’s with you guys and Quebec??
Silly me, must be that whole French thing. Hmmm…..word of advice, get over it already
M, when you come to ol’ PA, we’ll get you a Yuengling…..guaranteed it measures up to Labatt’s, which is good…although I was SO disappointed to find it wasn’t actually blue!
And after you’ve had a little beer, we’ll let you go back to that “classier” drink you prefer!

Tim says: I live in Bath. Literally across the street fron the south gate of the Iron Works.
Wow. Small world. My Son Number Two (the Squid) has lived in Brunswick for the past ten years or so. He was in and out of the gate at BIW for a couple of years while he was pre-comm for the USS Mason (DDG 87).
Michelle: Blue was my beer of choice for a long time… like maybe ten years. Then I discovered Fat Tire. Au revoir, Blue!
