2008

I have to admit that I find this video more amusing than I really ought: I mean, someday I might be working for the junior senator from New York. There’s the UCMJ to think about, and all.

But then I remembered: No. In all likelihood, I’ll be retired by the time she enters office, assuming of course that she successfully navigates the Democratic primary and electoral wickets.

So: Game on!

Plus, there’s that whole “Mac” thing. Which you know how I love that.

    Shipmates,

I actually thought, for a coupla daze, that Obama might have something going for him that would make the Dem’s primaries worth watching. Then I heard his speech in Illinois, in front of Lincoln’s old law office building.

With all the opportunity that such a stage provided him, he failed to take the reins and thus lost the golden chance he was offered. Oh well.

I wrote a comment about how he should have addressed the issue, and his bid for the White House. I sent it to his campaign. They sent me a form letter asking for a donation. Losers.

    Here’s what I wrote:
    —————————–

He missed his chance. He should have taken the reins and actually USED the LIncoln analogy, but his inexperience has again shown he is not ready. Rather than talk about being “from the place the Lincoln hailed, etc, he should have waxed…

“I stand here today, in front of the humble building that once served as offices to an humble man, Abraham Lincoln, that great forseer of humanity’s wealth, who took upon himself the mantle of saviour of a nation, who dissolved the bonds that kept a race in bondage, and freed them to take their place as equal and supportive citizens of this great Republic. It is right, and it is time, that a man of color, a man who represents those same hopes and dreams and simple rights so valiantly eloqueted by the “Great Emacipator” now sets his sights upon that same house where Lincoln once lived. It is now time that a Man of both color and conviction stepped into that house, and took up the reins himself, and rested upon his own shoulders the burden of leading this last, best hope of Freedom upon this earth. I am that man, and it is that time.”

That is what Mr. Obama should have said. But he did not, and he will lose the upcoming election. Rather than stun the crowd with oratory, he held back, and by staying his hand, he left what might have been upon the threshold, and now must live with what will be.

If I were him, I’d buy a nice flak jacket and some anti-poison pills, because the Hilda-beast will be shortly upon the warpath.

    Respects,

  • And if you don’t retire before January 20, 2009, you’ll have her signature on your “I love me wall” at the bottom of your Presidential Retirement Certificate.

I have this strange fantasy that both groups will make nice the Dem’s 2008 ticket will be:

    Clinton – Obama.

That way, everybody’s ticket gets punched and we’ll all be in a New Age!

I’ve got to stop drinking this rotgut!

  • If that happens….

My advice is to start drinking heavily. And come move with me to Pattya Beach! We can start a chain of productive businesses………

  • “Clinton – Obama” If they even hint about making that happen I’ll have to make a PCS move to the old family hang-out up in northern Maine. It’s only 15 minutes from the border…

    Steve,

I hear you, man. Make sure you stop by my house and pick me up on the way through, okay?

    Respects,
