Here I am on a Saturday morning, in my grease-stained overalls, code wrench in my hand, flashlight in my mouth, and up to my elbows in html, while working on a front-end redesign – the two column thing is just not working for me anymore, and although I cobbled The Flight Deck together from a free template over the course of a weekend, I have been looking upon aspects of its design with real envy. In such a disordered state, what should happen, but that Greyhawk sends the Malkin legions in for a peek.

And with your correspondent not dressed for company, and with nothing particularly clever to say.

Typical.

If you want something worth reading, then mosey over across the aisle, where FbL has a post up on the upcoming MilBlog Conference. Looks like I will be able to make it, after all. It has been promised to me that Guinness will be served.

I quiver.

Good! We’ll be able to shelve those kidnapping plans. ;)

And speaking of Guiness, though I’m not a beer drinker, it seems I have excellent taste (scroll down a touch). Or maybe that just means my friends do… :D

Congrats on the Malkinlanche. Lets hope you never get Slashdotted or Drudged.

Recogs are good for ya, and deserved.

High praise indeed…from Ms. Malkin herself:

” But most of his topics are far from mundane, and I rarely read his commentary without thinking “yes – that’s exactly what I would have said, if I had half the talent with words he does”

I keep telling you: find an editor, and a publisher…now. Please. I need more books for my library. I’m not kidding you…I’m begging you :)

Byron, milblogger Greyhawk is filling in for Malkin (who is taking a break), and he’s the one who turned the spotlight on Lex. Greyhawk is arguably the granddaddy of milbloggers and was a fan of Lex back when hardy Neptunus Lex as a tiny little blog. He’s the reason I started to read Lex, in fact. :)

  • Lex,

This might help you decipher the mysteries of css. I know it’s made my life easier on many occasions.

Still, Lex is a wordsmith par excellence! I’ve read a lot of good authors, and like them, Lex can keep my eyes glued to the page, the hand itching to turn the next page, and ready to sit in one spot, oblivious to the world until it’s done.

I humbly submit, that were Lex to publish a memoir, including his Tales of The Sea Service, and his thoughts and commentary, that it would sell like the proverbial hotcakes.

And I just know that Ms Malkin really would have said the exact same things as Greyhawk ;)

I’ll not disagree with you on any of that, Byron. I’ve told Lex several times that I’ll give him two years after retirement before getting started on the book, or then the nagging starts. :D

I’m nagging now…my reader crack addiction is never fixed :)

    Lex:

I look forward to finally meeting you. I’ll be one of the reps from Soldiers Angels, although Patti will be leading things for us. I’ll gladly buy you a Guinness, if you’re of a mind for it.

I may be in the neighborhood on 5 May. Are habitual readers permitted to do a drive by?

  • FbL

    GE06,

If you’re talking about the MilBlog Conference, anybody can attend. Although there is a reception Friday night and some semi-related activities Sunday, Saturday (5 May) is the primary day. It’s only $40 for the conference. Details here.

    Hope to see you there!

  • GEO6

FBL, Thanks! I may have business there and will extend thru the weekend for the conference but my schedule needs to get a little more fidelity before I can commit.
