Musn’t have gotten the memo
It’s easy to understand why some people have gotten so very frustrated with the Iraqi people. They simply will not stay on message:
Despite sectarian slaughter, ethnic cleansing and suicide bombs, an opinion poll conducted on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq has found a striking resilience and optimism among the inhabitants.
The poll, the biggest since coalition troops entered Iraq on March 20, 2003, shows that by a majority of two to one, Iraqis prefer the current leadership to Saddam Hussein
Re: “Musn’t Have Gotten the Memo”
Obviously, the poor slobs can’t get access to CNN, NYT, LAT, WaPo, STrib, etc. All would then be clear.
Old USAF Guy: Haven’t those people suffered enough?
And now I’m confused. Because besdies reading this here, I think I also saw something similar in the newspaper or somewhere a few days ago.
But then today in the Globe and Mail (far from my favourite read) I read that a survey taken for BBC showed (numbers are approximate because my memory isn’t 100% clear) 35% of Iraqis being happier with the current leadership and over 50% being happier under Saddam. Including some dude they interviewed who had quite happily smashed up Saddam’s statue four years ago. Which makes not much sense to me but….???
Can someone clarify?
Oh, you know it’s all about how the questions are framed in these polls, Michelle. That’s the dirtly little secret between, “lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
