All set to claim that moral high ground again:
One day after 21 people were arrested during a demonstration that vandalized a U.S. Army recruiting office on Milwaukee’s east side, Wisconsin peace activist groups on Tuesday said some protesters might increasingly turn to destruction as their frustrations mount…
Peace Action Wisconsin does not condone violence, said the group’s project organizer Julie Enslow, but some anti-war protesters might feel the need to be violent to get their point across.
Yessir, it’s time to start skull crackin’ for peace! Because, up to this point? We haven’t quite understood the point of the anti-war movement. What they’re driving at, in other words.
The whole “larger meaning” behind those “End the War Now!” signs. And the stilt puppets.

There was a point?! Who knew?
Why does it always seem like I’m a day late and a dollar short lately? I must get with the program!
Lex
Speaking of a day late and a dollar short…. I noticed today that the comment box is now so far over in the upper left hand corner of the screen that I actually can’t read the words over at the left margin. And I can’t seem to drag the box over or make it any bigger.
Waaaah…..I want my old Lex back!
Its okay. I’m feeling much better now. Well sort of, kind of….
Skipper,
Maybe it’s just time for the Fleet to pull into, say, Seattle, or SanFran for a littl old-fashioned “Dungaree Liberty”. Worked in Norfolk, back in the day.
Them what knows, knows…..
Respects,
AW1Tim,
I’ve been out of the Navy since ’79, but I’d be happy to get a new set of dungarees for the occasion.
The peace “movement”, you say? As in what they were throwing (see the article) or is it what they’re full of?
Same thing, really…
We’ve been here before, haven’t we! But this time half of US doesn’t agree with the other half… what will happen this time?
During the Viet Nam era I had sign hanging from my lamp at work with a peace sign on it with the inscription, “FOOTPRINT OF AN AMERICAN CHICKEN”.I don’t have the sign anymore, but I know how to make one.
What I see this time is that it’s not just a pot smoking hippie movement. It’s more like a jackass (or is it a mule) movement.
Peace Action Wisconsin does not condone violence, said the group?

Then Ms. Enslow will surely not be surprised, offended, or angry when anti-anti-war protestors respond in kind. They have a point they want to get across too, no?
Daveg,
What she just did was give her “followers” permission. As in, “It’s perfectly understandable that they might act out.”
Re: the stilt people. I am reminded of a comment on LGF while we watched this thing in real time. “Where are the plastic pail drummers? Where are the giant puppets? Quite frankly, this march has not met expectations…”
PeterGun,
re “We?
PeterGun,
re “We’ve been here before, haven’t we! But this time half of US doesn’t agree with the other half… what will happen this time?”
Superficially, yes. I submit the stakes are much higher. Now we have an asymetric, world-wide enemy capable of about anything who has attacked us at home, in CONUS.

“Peace Movement”, now there’s an oxymoron for you,
The “peace movement” are simply attention whores, when you get right down to it. They know little and care less about factual history, and the real sufferings of real people under tyrannies past and present. They’re pretty vague about practical solutions to intractable problems. It’s all about *their* feelings, and nothing else. They show no self-discipline, humility, or patience in the face of real obstacles. As the Gathering of Eagles showed, they cowardly shrink away —like petty bullies everywhere —when confronted firmly with resolve.
If they were truly peaceful, why would they be ALL angry, ALL the time?
badbob…
You’re right! The stakes are absolutely higher this time! We’re so fortunate we haven’t been attacked again since 9/11. The “All American Chicken(s)” that Phil mentions don’t and won’t believe even that!
In “what’s next” I’m wondering about the result of the ’08 election and our future. We know and understand, but the Dems and those who populate the left refuse to acknowledge the very real threat we face. Heck, they don’t even want to hear about it, do they?
