Good beer, friendly folks. Pleasant climate. Lovely beaches.
They even speak a form of English down there.
And then, of course, there’s this.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

So what don’t you like about Brazil? How about Argentina? What – dictators and drug lords give you the creeps?
Hey, we were clear until about …. well, until today!
BTW Mexico is looking okay too
Viva Mongolia!
Darn, I was expecting cheesecake…
No, wait, I mean the edible kind!
(stop digging, must stop digging)
Hmmm. I was thinking about a movie I saw about the outback and a girl. Usually an emotion burns stuff in the memory. This time I think it was firewalled hormones about the time the movie came out…
Oh, that one, Walkabout or something like that. Her and her brother, and one of the nice native people brings them back home to civilization, which she doesn’t seem to want to go back to, being so well outfitted for the outback in saddle shoes, white socks, white starched blouse, pleated school skirt…
stop digging
BTW, GEO6, seems you and AW1 Tim and I are all from home, not like the rest of these folks from away. Something to discuss in a sidebar someday.
Z, it would appear so. I am a 7th Gen Maineiac going back before the Revolution. Been away now 29 years and have been trying to move back ever since. Unfortunately the State has been hijacked by the Left almost as bad as here.
BTW, you have the right flick and the right girl. Jenny Agutter. Maybe Logan’s Run may come to mind too. Best-
My pop visited Oz in the late 20′s or early 30′s. He was a CPO (Optical fire control) on the USS Tennessee. There were 7 BB’s and a multitude of others. First US Navy visit since the Great White Fleet. Because of the stories he told of that visit I always wanted to get there, never did. I think he had enough fun for all of us..
Don’t forget the “birds”!

Sudan looks as though as great place to visit as well. Darfur in the Springtime!

Interesting how eastern europe doesn’t seem to put up with islamica radicals. Their map is looking quite clean.
Some good looking girls too. Language might be a problem. Argentina looks good too. Steak lover paradise.
GEO6, a Yankee indeed! On my father’s side we are truly a miscegenation dating back to the 17th century, Scotch, Irish, English, French, Indian, including a privateer who preyed upon the Spanish Main. Old New England.
Lex, Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!
There’s a reason our map is clear…
Zane – I may be from “away”, but I’m an hearty Old New Englander as well. My mom is descended from Pasamaquoddy & Pentucook Indians, native to New Hampshire and Maine. I’m a mix of Swedish, Dutch, English, Scots, Indian. We go all the way back to the Vikings – which some argue (including my family) explored this region long before Columbus mistakenly got the credit. There are even privateers (come on, call them what they were – pirates) on my dad’s side dating back to the 18th century.
So I may not live in Maine, but I think I fit in…right?
Kris, wherever my part of the woods is, you’re welcome in it.
