Quick thanks

Three tips o’ the tam to occasional readers Joe, rpl, Patricia and Patrick for their generous support to the “Pay Lex’s Airfare to the Milblogger Conference” kitty, as well as you too, Anonymous Stranger. That stock of the personal fisc is also known as the Guinness Fund, but hey: Cash is inherently fungible, and what doesn’t get us to Arlington will certainly help to replenish lost carbohydrates once there. Because of the strength that’s in ‘em!

Between them, the aforementioned have graciously covered nearly 20% of the overall travel cost, and that just in the last two weeks. For which your correspondent is exceedingly grateful, knowing as he does that these things were done of a kindness and nothing more. It might even prevent us from having to auction off one of the girls, although that’s really too close to call at this juncture.

In case you’re curious, I also put to good use the Beer Funds provided for Saint Patrick’s Day, for which our Australian contingent was particularly supportive. Good men themselves.

And now a request: An occasional reader has forwarded to me under separate cover photographs of himself from Back In The Day. I’ve a notion to post such pictures up from time to time, and reward blogospheric karma to any such as is the first to guess which is the appropriate actor on this our little stage.

    Cap’n,

I’m in for it. Sounds like fun I can also send you some pix if you like. Just tell me how you’d like them.

Regarding the trip to DC, have you bothered to check into a space “A” hop outta Moffett or any of the nearby fields? I rmember that there wasn’t ever any problem getting into Andrews, as someone was always headed in that direction for one reason or another.

    Respects,

  • rpl

    Lex:

Thank you for the kind words, but it should be noted that I read your blog every day, and I consider it to be a treasure. It would be more accurate to list me as an occassional commenter.

I’ll buy ya a draft when we meet. See you in DC next month.

  • I’m in, Cap’n.

No way a Space “A” hop is leaving Moffett these days, AW1, unless it’s a ANG 129th Air Rescue Wing Herc. Consider all that asphalt with very little traffic. One of the frequent landers/fliers has been AF-1 when GWB comes to town, and that’s not too often.

Once is a very fortunate while we get to see some Hornets ocme in and rattle the windows a bit. Two brand spanking new Foxtrots came in from VFA-32 (the yousta be VF-32) just after their transition.

Just no P-3 action here anymore.

Regarding the action, sh!t, unless it’s from the era of “Pygmi” Holmes, Fudd Driver Extraordinaire, etc., I wouldn’t know anybody.

Sure, what the heck. I’m pretty good looking at pictures.

And I’m happy to help the effort. My little contribution.

You’re very welcome Captain, and I’m definitely getting more than I’m paying for.

Thanks for the (private) encouragement for my Cat also.

Make sure and say hi to George for us in DC.

  • Sim

Sure, though mine may be a little more recent than others…

  • Sim

Not at all, it’s Americans I hate ;)

  • Sim

Actually my comment was not meant to mean others are old, merely to reflect that some have been there and done that while my resume was lacking in comparison.

  • Sim

Oh, and my photo has been forwarded to Lex. ;)

AW1, I’ve heard the opposite, lately. Friends here have no trouble getting flights out of AAFB. Plenty of medevac flights taking heroes to hospitals closer to their homes, out west. Trying to go East is more difficult, because the regular flights into Andrews from the west are the small jets carrying VIPs with little extra room. Friends of mine just spent 3 days in Colorado Springs waiting and getting bumped. They ended up getting a flight to Orlando, and then bought commercial flights to DC.

And, Lex, I’m all for a ‘Guess the Guest’ Gag. Clever Caption Comments would be fun, too. :)

“…as is the first to guess which is the appropriate actor on this our little stage.”

I think I’m “in,” sir. But I don’t understand that clause. I was hoping to glean its meaning from comments, but so far, I can’t.

Toss this ol’ Aircrewman’s dixie cup in the ring.

  • So Lex, how is this going to work? Do we send you our pics with some teaser background information? I mean, SOME of you have met, but the rest of us are at a distinct disadvantage…

  • Michelle

    Kris
You don’t think the Lex Babes would be at a distinct disadvantage here? There being only so many of us to choose between? ;-)

  • Brian

I’m in…gotta spelunk in the basement for a good one, though…

    Brian

  • Michelle – but I suspect that the Lex Babes are so roundly magnificent that choosing who we are will present quite the, ah, dilemma.

Kris, A question/clarification… When you say…” but I suspect that the Lex-Babes are so roundly magnificient…” are you alluding to their Rubenesque body types or did you have something else in mind ? Please advise…Best

  • Snake – perhaps it should have read “all around magnificent”. Whatever floats your particular boat…

    :-P

  • doorkeeper

Snake, I’ll take Rubenesque. It’s the nicest term I’ve heard in a while!
And I’m in…I guess. Hate pics, hate them.
