It could be worse:
Britain’s National Union of Journalists denounced Israel on Friday for its “military adventures” in Gaza and Lebanon, called on the government to impose sanctions and urged a boycott of Israeli goods.
By a vote of 66 to 54, the annual delegate’s meeting of Britain’s largest trade union for journalists called for “a boycott of Israeli goods similar to those boycotts in the struggles against apartheid South Africa led by trade unions, and [for] the [Trades Union Congress] to demand sanctions be imposed on Israel by the British government.”
Some of the union’s 40,000 members decried its “trendy lefty” agenda. Other motions before the four-day meeting in Birmingham, which ends Sunday, included condemnations of the US detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and support for Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez.
Perfect.
Update: It’s hard to understand how the NUJ can simultaneously hold the position that Israel’s incursions into Gaza – in order to stop the missiles being shot at its citizens, mind – is a “military adventure”, while simultaneously condemning the kidnapping and rumored murder of a BBC reporter by a group of terrorists poor, benighted oppressed people.
Hard though it may be, there it is.

Cap’n,
Well, it’s no different than reading any daily edition of the Boston Globe…
Seriously, though, since when did Eric Idle start writing for the journalist’s union? I mean, I have to laugh at the screechings of those union twits because they sound identical to many of the old Monty Python sketches.
Ahhh England, where every young man can dream of becoming a queen…..
Respects,
“…On the same day the National Union of Journalists condemned Israel, the organization’s international affiliate, the International Federation of Journalists, called on the Palestinian Authority to secure the release of BBC correspondent Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped five weeks ago by Palestinian gunmen in Gaza.”
And could this be at the heart of it all?
“On the same day the National Union of Journalists condemned Israel, the organization’s international affiliate, the International Federation of Journalists, called on the Palestinian Authority to secure the release of BBC correspondent Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped five weeks ago by Palestinian gunmen in Gaza.”
I am not positive if it has been confirmed but I read that the journalist was beheaded yesterday.
So, England has a National Union of Journalists. Now that is a shocker. Do they hold their little pinkies in the air while they sip their tea and look down their noses at the uncouth former colonies? And who, in this whole world could be less relevant than a room full of Brit reporters? All of the Brit warriors I met during the Cold War impressed me. They were dedicated, brave, determined, and not afraid to get their hands dirty or to laugh at themselves. Their sons and daughters apparently did not take after them. What a pity.
“Hail Spode!”

I am flabbergasted they would put this statement out.
Are they anything like the Film Actors Guild (FAG) here in America? I mean Screen Actors Guild (SAG) of course!
One can only role the eyes in response.
I am sure the conspiracy theorists abound in that great establishment.
Speaking of conspiracy theory, seen this?
