This is when the knives come out

Unhappy news for the junior senator from New York:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton received a double-shot of bad news yesterday, with two new polls – including one in her home state – showing her losing significant ground in the presidential race.

According to the Siena College poll, Clinton’s favorability rating in New York has dropped to its lowest level in more than two years…

Her sudden vulnerability in New York mirrors a trend nationally, with a Rasmussen poll released yesterday showing that her chief Democratic rival for the nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, has tied Clinton at 32 percent across the country after gaining on her for four straight weeks.

This could get interesting.

Update: NYPost too, “NYPost-ee” for you? The Gray Lady (which institution, whatever else you might say, understands New York politics) has more -

Many black New York officials have strongly supported Mrs. Clinton

    Shipmates,

Seems brother Obama camps upon the far bank of the Rubicon, and Cassius, er, Clinton, is counting up the swords in the armoury.

Chrlie Rangle so far supports the Hillery, but for how long, and how strongly, is anyone’s guess.

For those with an interest in such Byzantine political theater, might I suggest a review of Procopius’ volumes on Justinian and Theodora, especially the later, “secret” volume published after their deaths. Nothing new under the sun, indeed…..

RE NYT artical “…Mr. Meeks said, Mrs. Clinton’s years of experience in the White House …. gave her an edge over Mr. Obama.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Wasn’t it WJC who was elected President? Or is the experience, the NYT refers to that of Whitewater, Travelgate, Healthcare, ad nauseam fame? Either way the NYT statement is lacking, but then that’s not new’s is it? (no pun intended).

Truth is between Clinton & BHO it’s the same product in different packaging, neither one is going to bring to the office the leadership that is needed or the direction this county needs. But that misses the point of your post, dudn’t? If I was BHO, I would be very afraid. If he survives this (politacally) he’s going to get bloodied up big time. It should be good theater & I hope he pulls it off, @ least in the primary election ;-)

I am going to enjoy seeing her self destruct.

To borrow from WFB, “It is dangerous to reason from the specific to the general.” NY is NY. Obama may even beat her there, but it’s a big country, and she owns the stooges. The stooges control the process.

Obama won’t win the nomination, but he will lead her to alienate her part of her base that is comprised of blacks and the looney left. In truth, that helps her if she can bring them home in the general, while still posing as a centrist. We’re still 17 months out, and she’s strategically in a position to do that.

  • I wonder – how much of her dip in the polls is related to WHO she is and how much is because just maybe the country really isn’t ready for a female President.

(Disclaimer: can’t stand the woman, so that’s nothing more that idle curiosity.)

LOL at the last paragraph, Lex! I don’t think the dip has to do with her gender as much as her abrasiveness and the fact that people are finally paying attention to who she is and more specifically who she isn’t. Trying to be all things to all people doesn’t cut it these days and she’s a big hypocrite (oxymoron when it comes to politicians, I know), and hers is showing!

She’s better be careful that her poll numbers don’t drop too much, or Harry Reid won’t respond to anything she says (today’s news). ;)
