I feel stupid because I went in to the army in 1963 took basic and AIT at Ft. Polk and yes I was in the infantry and I was given a blue cord and blue disks. I am now a Cpt. in the Virginia defence force which is a vol. orig. we back up the Va.Nat. Grd. we get paid if the gov. call us to active duty. I sure would like to hear from you. It stood for Dumb A$$ Tanker. But once the M1 came along and all its electronic doo dads it was changed to CDAT for Computerized Dumb A$$ Tanker. When we transitioned from M113s to Bradleys when I was a company commander we talked about making Bradley Boots...jungle boots with straps. Not a good idea. Oh, and I want to make sure we are talking about armor folks. We are not talking about cavalrymen. Cav is a state of mind....usually delusional. DAT is really an old term. Is it beyond possibility that we could have Lex hoist his flag? I mean, that Morrison fellow got to do that, and didn't write as well as Lex does, and never flew off of, or on to, an aircraft carrier, as far as I know.
