"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier

No doubt Allison Stokke has a big bucks Astroglide endorsement in her future.
Wow – the comments on that last link were painful. I love reading Rich Casebolt’s responses. Can’t say it any better than he.
As for Allison Stokke…if I were a guy, I’d be drooling
Cap’n,
Amazing set of comments on that last site. Sad, but so true. I am in contact with leftists of that sort every day. I actually had to contact the police about one woman who rides the city bus. She loathes the presdient, Republicans, et al. Every day she’d see me and ask how many children my soldier friends killed today. Very sad…
As to the pic of the GI. It was interesting seeing how few of the anti-war posters have kept up on changes in the US Military. Shows how well the pay attention, I guess. The guy’s not only wearing the new DCU clothing, but he’s got on the MOLLE load-bearing vest system, where his ammo pouches, etc, are on the front, and that item on his back is a 2.5-3 liter “camel” hydration pack. Easier to carry a load of water, and it has a tube that goes over his shoulder with a bite valve for easy access while on the move, etc.
Respects,
The sneeker boots are totally cool!
And very comfy too Babs, not at all like the $19.95 POS’s with plastic insoles we got twenty-five years ago. They bought us goretex Danners in 1991, and I couldn’t believe they were spending that kind of money on us, lol.
I made it about halfway down the comments on the PB4H post before I gave up reading. Seemed like the US-soldier-sympathizer types had the “nuanced” arguments, and the objecters were just ranting and foaming.
Hey, I voted for W twice, and the second time I had to grit my teeth, a little, to do it. Screaming little-kid playground-bully arguments really don’t address some of the actual problems I have with the Administration.
We really need to elect Michael Z. Williamson World Dictator, I tell you. He has a plan for the stupid annoying people
JTG ~ did you make it far enough to get to Rich’s arguments? His were great (as usual).
What drove me nuts (it obviously doesn’t take much) was that even the people who knew that the soldier was wearing the new uniform didn’t call it by it’s actual name – the Army Combat Uniform (ACU). If you’re going to correct people, at least educate them properly in the process.
Casca ~ MacGyver loves the Danners but they aren’t approved for wear in the cockpit. I think he has a pair that he wears for field problems and such.
Oh, yeah, Homefront. I agree with Confucius that the first thing you do when starting to talk about something is to call things by their right names. Otherwise, you quite literally don’t know what you’re talking about.
(Well, maybe you think you do, but the guy you’re talking to might not know what you mean.)
Or even worse, *you* might not know what you mean.
So, whadaya mean?
Not just any G.I….that’s an 82D Airborne Division Paratrooper…God love’em all…
Amen Tom.
