Can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday she was crawling around the White House on her hands and knees, and putting everything in her mouth.

What’s the difference?

It’s his wife. They have a public commitment to a relationship that is legally recognized. He doesn’t have to skulk around the White House hiding from everyone. He hasn’t lied to the entire country with his wife sitting next to him. He isn’t a pompous, hypocritical liar, violating the oath of the marriage relationship to get a cheap thrill with a woman his daughter’s age.

It’s his wife.

If he want to leer at her, he has the right. I leer at my wife from time to time. That one of the benefits of having a wife. You get this relationship where you have forsaken all others and chosen this one other person to have a lifetime commitment to.

That’s what was so telling about Billy Boy’s leering at Monica. It showed that he had no sense of commitment and honor. It wasn’t the leering, it was the lack of integrity.

Wasn’t it McKinley that chewed tobacco and held poker games in the White House? Seems that caused quite a stir among the more refined visitors, but it crosses my mind that sort of “down home character” might be worth a few votes in a time where haircuts and photo ops are the campaign.

Wonder if old Fred would be able light up a Cubano in the wee hours of the night in the Oval Office? While nursing a brandy?

I agree – it would be wonderful to see a man in the White House who truly likes his wife. And if I were an intern, I’d feel comfortable working for him. Don’t think I’d have to fear cigars…
