This might be a little trickier.

Hints provided at intervals.
Hint: Was an AW. Was not AW1 Tim.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Skippy San?
Definetly a BOQ/BEQ. Looks like Pensacola sorta. Those fire extinguishers I got in trouble over look familiar.
Who? Dunno. I’ll guess Nose.
b2
Look at the surroundings: BOQ? Fhagedaboudit. Such spacious and capacious accommodations.
Patrol Squadron all the way. As nice as the Air Force.
He’s got the PO wings on the old bule ball cap (looks like a PO2). Got the poopy suit. Looks like air crew. Very sleep deprived or hung over.
The one. The only. AW1 Tim. In Rota?

Heh,
My vote goes to “old_retired_chief” That there AW feller has the “look” of 70/80′s Naval Aircrew.
Man, do I feel old…….
Respects,
And we’ve got a winner at 1954 PDT!
Wow,
Well…. I guess it’s that “takes one to know one” gene… heh.
I remember when I used to have a waist like that as well.
Location? NAS Jax or Pensacola?
Busted, as it were. Thanks Lex and Tim! Yes, nobody would believe the ol’ AWC had an actual waistline at one time unless there were photographic proof. And SJBill should get a half point because while it is Navy VP barracks, it is at Kadena,AFB in Okinawa. Navy barracks on an Air Force base. As for specifics, this was about an hour before preflight/brief for a tactical mission during the mid-80s. And you think YOU feel old?
Thanks again, Lex and ya’ll.
What is it about sailors, that they don’t seem to be able to stand upright when it comes to photography, whether they are photographers or photographees?
A naive person might think said sailors had had too much to drink, but that would be a wrong contrafactual idea, right?
b2,
In case he throws his image in the ring, the reason for Nose’s callsign is as plain as the– well, you know what to look for.
Zane
ORC,
Glad to see that unsuspecting post was held in place by you. Congratulations on retiring as AWC and practioner of the forgotten art of ASW.
I preceded you as a CVS based AX with experience on the other coast or our and their continents.
Are you and Tim listed on Devo’s Fleet AW Association pages? I don’t feel that old, but Devo lists me as a pioneer — there were many that preceded me.

I was gonna say AW1 and now that I look at the ballcap I think I can see Crows! Photo was taken with the now extinct 110 I’ll bet. I think I see a per diem check sticken outta the leg pocket of his bag.
Zane- Roger that on the Noseintell!

SJBill,
I’m up on the FAWA board. Call Sigh is “Difar Roach”. It’s a long story
I feel honored to have come in when I did, as many of the first-generation AW’s were my instructors, and their experiences as former AX and AT types gave me a far better understanding and backgroiund than I would have gotten from just the A school and the RAG.
That “extra” knowledge often came in handy on patrols when things went bad and the IFT didn’t have enough hands.
Next year is the 40th anniversary of the founding of the AW rate, and there are some plans forming over on Devo’s site regarding celebrations, etc.
Respects,
