Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Thousand hit’s a day ain’t nothin.
And Snake, what was that about “rats” and “backsides”???
nothing
One of Lex’s best posts! I salute you, sir!
(I kid, I kid)
Linc
I see nothing . . . NOTHING!
Hey, it dropped the (Shultz -> /Shultz) tags!
Snake
Just wanted to thank you.
For adding nothing to the discussion.
Wow — I still got nuttin’ …
That’s a whole lot of nothin’
“… and nothin’s plenty for me”
–Gershwin
Alas.. a futile attempt to raise the level of discourse… a quixotic goal indeed…seriously… for a fun read for anyone who really enjoys the language suggest you Google “Latin Quotes and Phrases”…
for the rest of you lovable/lazy luggs… Lex Babes(you know who are) included… I’ll translate the phrases in order of their appearance:
1. “not worth a rats ass”,
2. ” there is no free lunch”,
3. ” don’t let the bastards grind you down”,
4. ” things go better with coke” (a non sequitur and lame attempt at humor)), and
5. ” get a life”
I actually thought is was somewhat amusing and silently complemented myself when I first read it in contex…but as I thought further on what I had written two words kept comming to mind …”qualem blennum”… yes… qualem blennum unfortunately said it all. Best
Hey, I actually knew this one:
non illigitamus carbor
But really, I thought nothin’ of it.
And Snake, not to make something out of nothing, but that’s a terrible way to talk about yourself. After all, there’s nothing to be gained by it.
Okay, okay, even I know its time to give it a rest….
but hey, its not like I had nothin’ else to do.
Latin phrases appropriately including the word “nothing”…..now that would be impressive.
Some might even say, that would be something!
Not that it’s not nothin’ but isn’t “lugg” spelled lug.
Nah, never mind. It’s nothin’.
And of course, brilliant person that I am, I forgot the question mark at the end of the question. That will teach me.
Just remember, better to be a smart@$$ than a dumb@$$.
I know what y’all think I’m worth, I having waited this long to reply to this one.
For what it’s worth…and to correct the record re #51 above the first Latin Phrase in my original comment # 49 above was ” cacoethes scribendi” (and not “non gradus anus”). Cacoethes scribendi translates as… “an insatiable urge to write”, which when read in contex hopefully renders my comment comprehensible. Best
PS, HomefrontSix, Congratulations…I hereby award you the August 2007 Pedantic Peckerwood Award. A letter under seperate cover will be sent to you explaining the rights, duties and obligations attendant receipt of this prestigious award…and that its safe to say… ain’t nothin(g)…again congratulations… you Big Lug(g).
