A few month’s back, Matt and Grim hosted an email writing campaign at Blackfive in support of the Marine Corps Regimental Combat Team – 6. The effort was a huge success, gathering “letters from home correspondence” to thousands of Marines on the pointy end.
Occasional reader Jim Cannon was so impressed by their efforts that he’s sponsoring his own, in support of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment. He’s looking for about a thousand emails to complete the effort, and curiously – for reasons no one can adequately explain – this site gets just about that many hits per day, plus a bit of gravy.
Perfect match, yah?
So. Follow your lead here and do the right thing, why don’t ya? It won’t take more than a few moments and could mean a great deal to those who are standing on the firing line for us – after all, if the only news they hear from home comes from the NYT or TNR, well…
I have been waiting for someone to start up an email campaign to the soliers in Scott Thomas’ unit. I bet they could use a few words of encouragement right about now.

I discussed that very thing with Uncle Jimbo over at Blackfive, and he contacted the PAO with Beauchamp’s unit. They said that due to all the unwanted and unexpected attention (thanks a lot Beauchamp), they didn’t really have time to deal with all ofr those letters/emails. According to Uncle Jimbo, they said they appreciate the support, but right now just isn’t a good time to do a letter campaign. So, I ended up checking with 1st Bt. 1st Marine Regiment, and they said “bring it on!”
I want to bowl these guys over with letters of support! Thank you in advance everyone for everything you’re doing or are going to do to make this a success!
