Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Maybe you should title this “‘G’ Fish.”
That’s one resilient little fish…stronger stomach than I have, at least.
Maybe I wasn’t focusing on the right things, but a call sign of “Bandcamp”… that’s GOT to have a good story!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dayum, that was FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!
At least you aren’t subjecting marine mammals to medium frequency sonar.
I sense an incoming reply from Pinch:
“Of course, the amazing fighting fish would only fly in a REAL fighter!”
Just a guess, dontcha know….
Geez, the boys must have been bored.
Like all that fighter pilot stuff just ain’t exciting enough!
But it was FUNNY … And you could devote a whole thread to just figuring out the stories behind the call signs. Some being easier than others.
Did the Fish earn the Air Medal?
“Award of the Air Medal is primarily intended to recognize those personnel who are on current crew member or non-crew member flying status which requires them to participate in aerial flight on a regular and frequent basis in the performance of their primary duties. However, it may also be awarded to certain other individuals whose combat duties require regular and frequent flying in other than a passenger status, or individuals who perform a particularly noteworthy act while performing the function of a crew member but who are not on flying status. These individuals must make a discernible contribution to the operational land combat mission or to the mission of the aircraft in flight.”
Doesn’t say the crewmember has to be an air-breathing mammal.
I’ve got an idea. Fish are cheaper than pilots AND UAVs…Nah….
Their resilient and long lived too. My daughter has a couple of them fish they each live in their own ^ in x 6 in little box. One is nearly 8 years old.
It’s a good thing he didn’t get explosive decompression..I can read the accident report now..Fish remains were exploded in the cockpit..
No gloves either. Tsk-tsk. This is an easy one to investigate. I’ll bet the joker gets put in hack with no Dog.

Enraged PETA in 3,2,1…
Hehe. You never did that right ?
I noticed Kojak – LCDR Kevin Davis, our fallen Blue Angel from early this year. Going to see the Blues here in a couple weeks, will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.
My roommate was the one that made this video. He showed it at fo’c'sle follies in front of the whole airwing, CO, and ADM. No one knew what the reaction was going to be. At the end, the ADM stood up and said, “how can I get a copy of this thing?” My buddy detached from the squadron the next day and when the COD departed, everyone heard “ding ding, ding ding, the fish departing” on the 1MC.
And yes, that was Kojack. My thoughts are with him too.
I agree with Michelle – the callsigns would be enough for a video of their own. Didja. Notso. Balls. Bandcamp. Troll. Donger.
Excellent stories in there I’m sure. And the fish was awesome!
After that last cat shot the fish was looking a little airsick… Oh, and yeah… gotta be a story behind the callsign of bandcamp.
Jim C
“Good luck with that” All you guys…
Wihing you a safe home and all your air crew.
That’s awesome…. my kids would *SO* do that to our beta! (affectionately called “Master….Beta”, of course. Hey! I’m a single mom, ya know!
Cool vid and good times!
And finding out the reasons for the call signs, priceless!
btw… I’m afraid to ask how “Plug” got his name on a NAVY ship. I’m hoping it doesn’t have anything to do with the Donger.
“In the Navy… In the Navy….”
The guy who got the call sign “Short Round”, thats so wrong but so cool.
One more reason to go Navy over Air Force…
Best wishes to the Kojack family.
