"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier

For any guy who was pubescent from 1960-1975, this’ll bring back memories.
Simply beautiful. And the girl is nice too. Reality check for me though is something in the back of my mind reminds me that I have sons her age.
Ahem – I posted about this at The Flight Deck yesterday – http://www.neptunuslex.com/Wiki/2007/08/11/693/ .
Eerie how we used the same photo, Sir…
“Brickhouse”. hubba-hubba.

GEO6,
Yeah, it’s worse for me. I have a daughter her age…. sigh… and a son just a tad younger. I’ve already given my daughter the lecture about not dating sailors. Ever.
Respects,
Shame about the human in the pic. I think that’s a Beech 18, could be sure if I could see the landing gear.
AW1 Tim,
If you go and tell your daughter that, just how will our naval values and traditions be continued? She might go out and marry a lawyer, a hair-stylist, an interior decorator or worse yet, somebody from the Air Force!
Our daughter is 12, and we’ve had no such discussion. Today, she is wearing Marine Corps cammies, by-the-by, but is equally comfy with a dixie cup or ship’s ball cap.

Tim, Guess the shoe is on the other foot here. I WOULDN’T MIND my sons bringing her home to meet the ‘rents. Not. At. All. Ever.
SJBill,
Well, I suspect she gets the drift of my advisories….
I’ve also advised her to ensure she brings the young gentleman by the house before heading out to where ever it is they are planning on going. That way I can show him the pieces of my shotgun that I’ll be cleaning when he arrives. Heh…..
I won’t even have to assemble it, let alone load it. “splain to him that I’m wise to his ways, being a man of the sea service and many a foreign liberty port, et al…..
She’s a good kid
She’s done me proud so far. Now if I can only convince her to consider Navy OCS after she gets her degree…..
Respects,
I’ve always noted the parts of the checklist that were at the pilots discretion, like:
GPS FLIGHT PLAN: AS DESIRED
Soo…the pinup checklist:
SMILE: Radiant
STANCE: Inviting
EYES: Set
MIXTURE: Rich
LAPEL COWL FLAPS: Open
ZIPPERS: AS DESIRED
Ohyeah, CPT J, and on finally looking at her face, I notice that she bears a very *disturbing* resemblance to Betty Page.
Oh, one more for the checklist:
LEGS: Up, and Down, and nice.
Dang, Lex, I distinctly recall posting another comment, correcting possibly mistaken impressions people might have gotten from that one there, and now it’s not here. Are you editing my submissions to save me from appearing too awkward, or was that just a glitch in the software? Knowing what I have learned here about the Mind of the Aviator, I suspect that the latter is more likely.
Looks like she’s standing in front of a Beech 18 (SNB) which is hard to notice at first due to her presence, but then again, I did spend a bit of time in the early morning winding back the props to circulate oil in the cylinders to get the thing ready to fly interisland cargo. I do love pinups, as my dad liked to say (Vietnam Vet with 4 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star) “they really show our guys what they are fighting for.”

Lex, Just one thought on the opening and closing sentences of your post above…well done… an excellent example sh*t-eating grin lewdness for the un-initiated. Best
