I thought we had a deal!

I honestly thought the guy was dead. Turns out that, just like Fred Thompson, who announced his candidacy well after the rest of his competition and who appears to be running to the right of Republican candidates for president, Osama bin Laden is in the race and running to the left of the Democratic field:

“People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there.”

Somewhere, somebody is questioning the timing.

Update: Irony isn’t dead, but parody might just be.

It is interesting to note that although the comments form an echo chamber, the poll results (at least at the time I reviewed them) show that more than half of the readers (55%) who bothered to vote think his premise is off base.

Just to clarify, the above comment refers to the dKos post that Lex referenced.

(Note to self: Do not try to post while a six-year-old is trying to get your attention.)

  • Now the dKosians are going to focus on how Bush and ObL are just doing this all out of vanity, like some frat bet gone way bad?

I guess then that ObL had the same bet with Reagan, Bush 41 and Clinton as well, if you are to use the logic that the conflict is merely about two powerful figures vying for the ultimate in recognition. But…in dKos world, you have to strike the first three off the page in order to make the puzzle piece fit with “BDS gone Wild.”

  • Those kos kids are such scamps! They mean well, but they’ve been forgetting their meds for over 6 years now.

In reading the comments over there, one of the things that struck me as the perfect illustration of the hypocrisy of those on the left is this:

“Every right wing site has Bin Laden on the front page right now. I can’t decide which ones are more pathetic, the ones scrambling to take advantage of this stuff or the ones actually afraid of this guy.”

Um yeah, and Kos isn’t talking about the video on their front page at the same time?

It all makes me wonder – IF (and god forbid it) the Dems take the White House in 2008, just exactly what will the kos kids, and their kind, do with their lives? They are incapable of being positive about anything, so it does make me wonder how they will express themselves…

And as for Osama – I confess to fear at the fact that it seems clear he is still alive – like some kind of cockroach. His mythological status among his, um, peers makes him a figurehead of immense power.

I’m not convinced that the individual is Bin Laden. Look very closely at the shoulders and compare them to pictures of Bin Laden from a few years back.

Also, if you pay close attention to the full video, the video stops at under the two minute mark, yet the audio continues for the next 23 minutes.

Yeah, that and the fact that – despite the fact that his beard has gotten darker – he’s wearing the exact same clothes as the last time he was hauled out of the grave.

Still, you’ve got to go with the experts. I’m sure the authenticity angle was checked rigorously.

Well he is alive and in vying for a commercial spot of Youthair: http://www.nomoregray.com and the Democrats should be proud that he specifically cites them for praise. Outstanding!!!

Maybe we want them to think that we believe them. Sometimes the truth is so precious, it requres a bodyguard of lies.
