Good news: Tailhook 2007 is over, and I’m almost certain to avoid any criminal indictments.
Bad news: It’s shattered, I am.
Good news: I passed out a dozen business cards to old friends who were sure to be of assistance down the road.
Bad news: But no resumes.
Good news: One of the guys I used to work with as an ensign is now a sales director for Cirrus, the folks that make that groovy microjet we’ve spoken about before, not to mention the SR-22 Turbo (did I mention the glass cockpit?) that I was lusting over on the symposium floor. Says they’re hiring pilots left, right and center.
Bad news: Headquarters is in Duluth, Minnesota.
Good news: I’m heading home.

Glass cockpits are kewl. In most cases you know you are partial panel a lot faster than the steam gauges. On the other hand, you tend to watch the electrical bus A LOT more closely.

And that valor still exists today.
Go home to Nirvana-by-the-Lake and enjoy yusself, your Roomie and children. Rather than move all the way up to Duluth, can you still throw your hat in for a deep draft command, and stick around for the duration? Sometimes the right choices are the ones that didn’t seem right when made the dolalrs and cents spreadsheet.
If’n I’m not mistaken, you already work with a great bunch of folks — at least, that’s my impression.
Good news.. Two Harbors, MN, just north of Duluth, is one of the most beautiful places in the states..

Sounds like the charity work and Reading Room plans went by the wayside, but you managed to entertain yourself without too much effort on your part.
Oh, and by the way ~ you’re supposed to keep in shape so that when you do things like golf, you’re already in shape and then you don’t hurt so much later on! *Grin*
Like Bryan said, it’s gorgeous in Duluth.. but they only have two seasons there: ten months of good sledding and July/August!
What’s wrong with Duluth? Good folks, the weather is not so bad, and did I mention pheasant hunting and walleye fishing? There are other worthwhile pursuits once golf season is over.

Duluth is a great town, just carry a jacket year round because if the wind is coming in off the lake it is, well, cold even in july. A quick trip inland a mile or two fixes that problem.
Not really pheasent country but deer, grouse and fishing like few other places.
