Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

I give you credit Lex – you actually read Hillary’s website. I tried as well – like you, gastric distress (and I just came in from dinner out, oh well…). Had the horrible feeling that by just being there, she’d somehow know and stalk me afterwards. Brillo pad anyone?
Heh Kris – I’ll never forget her first Senate run. I had to drop something off at a neighbor’s house and there were all the gals building Hillary lawn signs. One of them asked me “why aren’t you here helping?” and I replied “I don’t think she should be in the Senate. I think she should be in jail.”
Quick exit…
John Adams? Or John Quincy Adams? I think you meant the former, and said the latter, but I may be mistaken. (Chronologically, though, JA came before Jefferson, and then 20 years later came JQA)
Poor Sim. Was that one of the world’s biggest ever Freudian slips?
Good to see you again, Lex. As always.
Oh yeah, your alternate life plan, knew there was a reason I liked ya…
And as for Hilary, well all one can do is try, right?
Lex,
Have to disagree with you on one point – I’m a big Reagan fan as well. You suggested that he may not have been the brightest guy. I recently read Robert Novak’s “The Prince of Darkness” about covering politics for 50 years. In 1980 or 81 he interviewed Reagan and asked him about his favorite political philosopher – Reagan gave him a list of such arcane philosophers then went into detail about them that Novak had to research them. I think we all underestimated him.
Also, thanks via Jeopardy for the suggestions on what to ask Doolittle’s co-pilot. I’ll give you a rundown after the event Monday night.
I like how you made it interactive, Lex. Very interesting on the Presidents, too.
BTW – any chance you are going to Vegas for Blogworld Expo? Either way – can you send a SEAL (the right kind, behave yourself!) along for the milblogging gals to
oglemeet??*grin*
Eek.
Ditto on Reagan. I loved having him as my CinC for the first 5 years of my Naval service – he did a ton for us serving during those years both individually and for the military as a whole. He had a lot to do with bringing the prestige of the uniform back in the eyes of John Q. Public.
Lex:
Good choices on the presidents. Ditto previous comments about visiting the Hildebeeste’s website.
Favorite insult without profanity? It comes from an episode of “Cheers,” where Frasier says to Norm and Cliff “What color is the sky in your world, gentlemen?”
As for problems with erections, hoo boy, I won’t touch that witha ten foot pole.
Cap’n,
Great Musings update. I do believe you’re getting more comfortable in front of the camera. Perhaps a stint at TV puditry in the offering?
I notice a difference between Democrat politics. In John Kennedy, we had a lothario and womanizer. However, he made the USA stand tall and strong; lsomeone who truly valued the military and whose response to the Vietnam issue was very good. In Bill Clinton we had lothario and womanizer with challenged ethics and a disdain for the military and the American people in general. Now in Hillary Clinton (may she never be elected) we have a womanizer who is a down and dirty Socialist with total disdain for American Culture, capitalism and a love for Government.
Is it just me or has the Democrat Party changed over time?
Enjoyed the Friday musings immensely! Interactive is where it’s at; good to see you “in action”.
Personally, I’m sure you would have been accepted at UVA or Duke… in a walk!
Hillary leaves us all with gastric distress. Who among the many will serve as our “Mittac, Rudycid, or Fredsec”? One good thing about the long campaign season, as much as I destest it’s largess, is the ample time to sort out that question.
I had offers from both Virginia and Duke, and the NROTC program would have paid for it. I was certain that Annapolis was the place for me, although to tell you the truth, my son’s experiences in NROTC have led me to believe he may be smarter than his old man.
In the defence of lex my email may had contributed to the slip, I was sneaking onto the net while herself was in the shower, checked the footy scores then expanded.
Cool, Lex.
It now dawns on me (a bit late… d’oh!) what I should’ve asked: How did you feel when you saw yourself on the first video you did here?
(hit return too soon)
I ask that question because I doubt I’d have the guts to not only put myself out there like that, but to have to look at it, too! I mean, being the overly-analytical perfectionist I am, I’d obsess over every movement, angle, word, facial expression and hesitation. I’d be a basket case… which you obviously aren’t.
Hey Fbl, that’s a great idea!
Just what your (almost perfect) blog needs …
There’s nothing like putting a face to a nom de blog, you know
PS
BTW doesn’t Lex strike you as a bit of a true perfectionist too?
Michelle (regarding your 1st), Not in a million years. Not. Ever.
As to Lex, of course he’s a perfectionist. Thing is, the health of his ego has never been in doubt.
Well, of course not.
He’s
Goda fighter pilot!*GRIN*
Gawd, you too are giggling like that girl scout troop that came to the squadron and noticed how… tight… the g-suit made everything. Chaperones and pre-teens alike. But they still had more composure than you two.
/end snark
Did that “God” comment hit a little to close to home, Zane?
/snark
Btw, my reference to ego was because that poem about Fighter Pilots that Lex linked to a few days ago was originally posted after I had snarked him about his ego the day before.
Lex – put your face on your blog and look at what happens – the girls all get giggly and silly. Not throwing stones though – been doing my own giggling all quiet.
Giggling?
Who, me??
I always did say that FbL was a bad influence.
Although just for the record, I was just quiety sitting here in the corner, trying to get some work done. But it does get mighty noisy in here sometimes, between all the giggling here and the engines spooling up over on TFD…
I must admit, though, I did do a fair bit of giggling last night.
Interspersed with the occasional “Now that’s cool!”. Must share about that sometime
I beg to differ. I was not giggling!
There was nothing giggle-worthy about what I wrote. Guffaw? Maybe…
I’m the bad influence? Hah!
*flounce*
Michelle: I give you solid evidence that you were, indeed, giggling:
“He’s
Goda fighter pilot!”No one could say that without giggling, even just a little bit…
Just back from the weekend… all re-created and such…and what do I read that spoils it all…the Lex Babes indulging in a raging hormone induced, big haired, bra burning, wilding…dispicable but somewhat amusing… Best. (ICSFTH)
