Anyone can tease out any trends?
Update: Cha-ching! Based on the comments at TPM’s Election Central, the MoveOn types are probably laughing all the way to the bank.
Which might have been what this was all about.
You know, legendary con man Joe “Paper Collar” Bessiman is said to have claimed that there was “a sucker born every minute.” And we know that pretty much all babies are born angry. What we’re seeing here is that subset of the first group that never quite outgrew the anger.
Anger can make you foolish. A fool and his money are soon parted.
It’s just business.

A List of Shame
Mebbe if I run out and take a picture of myself holding a sign up that says “Not In Our Name” and then post it could you begin to appreciate the frustration I have seemingly each and every day.
Oregonians are, in my opinion, basically good guys. The problem comes from a political class that tells us that there are no costs to being anti-military, anti-business and anti-common sense.
They’re building an Utopia here. It’s a Vision Thing.
Well, one COULD point out that ALL the NAY votes are suffixed by (D) or (I caucusing with D), but that COULD get one accused of COOKING the BOOKS for the ADMINISTRATION, no?
Said by Christopher Dodd – makes me ashamed that he’s from CT.
It wasn’t just “an ad”, it was a very public indictment of an honorable man. What member of Congress wouldn’t want to sign this Amendment? Am I just being stoopid , am I missing something???
And you don’t get to merely “end” the war – that’s a euphemism.
Someone has to lose it.
Seems to me that if there were a person on that list who represents me (and thankfully there is not!) I would be making sure that everybody and his kid brother knew of this vote. I would do everything legal and within my power to keep them from being re-elected at the end of their term. If these people represent you and you do not let them know how you feel then you are condoning their acts. If they have been elected to speak for us, they must be made to speak FOR us, not for their beliefs or for the most politically expedient argument.
Cap’n
I’m quite surprised and pleased that Senator DiFi of CA was not on the list. I shall send the senator a letter of thanks. The inverse will be sent to BabsBoxer (Izzit OK to call her B2?).

Despicable.
Boxer should have been fired a long time ago.
IMNSHO
Time to fire off another nasty gram to B squared.
Not that that woman reads any of them.
Looks like a good list to start the hangin’s with. We’ll do fat Ted first to test the rope.
Cap’n,
Yet again, the Democrat Party in Congress shows its true stripes. How is it possible for multiple villages to be missing their idiots for this long?
The Yellow List.
Ain’t quite warm to Casca tactics…yet..just a few simple, thorough, public butt-kickins would do the trick methinks.. Wishful thinking, I know.
b2
Just sent a letter to our Senator Murray (D-WA).
Let’s see… is “D” for DUMB?
We asked her to explain her vote. I hope she feels at least a bit of an obligation to explain her votes to her constituents.
Washington state has a VERY large military population; I’m sure her vote will be remembered at the next election. I’ve never voted for her, but am still ashamed to see her name on this.
How can they vote against our own military? They are truly showing their colors!!!
The nay votes reads like a list of the “usual suspects.” Why are all y’all so surprised (or maybe I’m just reading something between the lines that isn’t there…)? Disheartened, I understand, coz Hope Springs Eternal. But surprised? Not so much…
Wasn’t Patreaus unanomously elected by the Senate? Funny how a few months in the election pit will change things. Feh…
Look’s like a Traitors list to this Old Retired Petty Officer.
Hi,
Ads are back-firing in a big way…
America Votes: Petraeus Didn’t Betray Us
Gen. David Petraeus Better Known, Better Liked After Last Week
Sixty-one percent of Americans rate the general favorably in new poll
by Joseph Carroll
GALLUP NEWS SERVICE
PRINCETON, NJ — A new Gallup Poll suggests that last week’s intense schedule of congressional testimony and media appearances by the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, enhanced his image among Americans.
Not only did Petraeus’ name identification increase significantly in a matter of just a week, but his image also became more favorable than it was just before the week’s activities. This occurred in a contentious environment that included the publication of a full-page ad in the New York Times criticizing Petraeus, and much commentary on the truthfulness and accuracy of his testimony.
The new poll also shows that Americans are not nearly as familiar with U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker, who also testified before Congress.
According to the Sept. 14-16, 2007 poll, 61% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Petraeus, while 22% have an unfavorable opinion and 18% are not familiar enough with the general to rate him.
In early August, just 47% of Americans rated Petraeus favorably, with 21% rating him unfavorably and 32% having no opinion. Now, after last week, his post-testimony favorable rating has jumped up 14%.
Petraeus’ name identification — the percentage of Americans who know enough about him to have an opinion — also jumped from 69% in early September to 83% this past weekend.
Republicans — who as a group are solidly behind the war effort — are much more likely than independents or Democrats to rate Petraeus favorably. Eighty-three percent of Republicans have a favorable opinion of him, compared with 59% of independents and 43% of Democrats.
Peace!

It figures that my two senators are on the list. I have names for Schumer and Clinton that can’t be printed here, as it’s a family blog, so just go with Hitlery and Chuck the schmuck. If anyone wants a translation of the yiddish, I’ll provide it.
A shameful day for my Illinois, too.
Seems to me that if there were a person on that list who represents me (and thankfully there is not!) I would be making sure that everybody and his kid brother knew of this vote.
They will do that for you. They’ve done the math, and they know which way the constituent winds are blowing. They will brag about their ‘no’ vote.
Great. One of my two senators (they don’t deserve the capital letter) voted “No” and the other one didn’t vote (Durbin and Obama). They’ll hear from me.
Very surprised that the People’s Republic of Maryland was not on the list!! Maybe I can vote Democrat again…….nope.
