"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones

"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Anita Hill Lies Again…
Tawana Brawley. Crystal Gail Mangum. Anita Hill. Each used false accusations of sexual improprieties to attack and destroy men. Each has been shown to be a liar. But since she is a liberal icon, Anita Hill has gotten space in……
But lex ….
The Democrats are already dredging up Vietnam. Constantly. They’re working so hard to make a connection [that isn't accurate] between Vietnam and the present conflict that the out-of-condition ones are having heart attacks and the younger ones are foaming at the mouth.

Well if she didn’t say anything, then people might not remember her except for her part in Thomas’ book. She is still following the course, if you tell a lie often enough it will be accepted as true. I remember those hearings and how it was claimed by the press and some co-workers “women don’t lie about things like this”. Of course that was before Clinton and his issues.
The left has never forgiven Thomas for being a conservative, that is his only crime and is unforgiveable. I’m just glad he doesn’t seem to care what they think.
It’s about damn time Teapot Dome was thoroughly revisited…who knows but that certain USN oil reserves didn’t later make their way into construction monies for select “symbolic” buildings in Coronado?
“It’s about damn time Teapot Dome was thoroughly revisited…” Teapot Dome is in Natrona County Wyoming. Dick Cheney is from Natrona County Wyoming. Halliburton is in the oil business….
A very little known factoid about one of the ramifications of the Anita Hill testimony…
The questioning of Hill by the all-male Senate Judiciary resulted in outrage by women’s groups. Then-House member Barbara Boxer led about six House women and stormed up the Capitol steps on the Senate side to demand fairness. As a result after the 1992 elections, Senate Majority Leader George Mitchel was forced to put a Democratic woman on the committee. The only one with a law degree was Feinstein who didn’t want it. To do it, she demanded a seat on the coveted Appropriations Committee – a near impossibility since freshmen aren’t usually assigned to it. Mitchell acquiesced and gave her an Approps seat and Judiciary.
craig mclaughlin…hilarious…and exactly the kind of mind we need to help expose these wicked affiliations…hehe…hilarious.
Shipmates,
Quote: “As a result after the 1992 elections, Senate Majority Leader George Mitchel was forced to put a Democratic woman on the committee. The only one with a law degree was Feinstein who didn’t want it. Whereupon she started to funnel millions of dollars in defense contracts to the company owned by… wait fot it….. her husband!
Only in the past few months has that layer of obfuscation been pulled back to shine the light of day on the whole sordid mess.
But yeah…. Tea Pot Dome? Nothing to see there. If you want a REAL scandal, well, there’s that whole “Boston Tea Party” thing. Fake Indians, Freemasons, Revolutionaries, and all sorts of cover-ups! I demand an inquest!
Respects,
But it didn’t end there… Hill went on to the University of Oklahoma law school (where that liberal institution welcomed her with open arms) and she began brain-washing the law students there. The University finally had enough and she left late in the ’90′s. Makes you wonder how much damage this lost soul did on the young impressionable minds in Oklahoma. Has she poisoned someones mind and a festering cancer is now growing, waiting to take up the torch of liberal lies and defamation?
I wonder if Hill taught the 101 course on “The end justifies the means”? No wonder there are so many lawyer jokes.
AW1 Tim,
You’re correct. I neglected to tell the rest of the story. To follow-up on your part, she was quietly removed or “resigned” from her position on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction (MILCON) earlier this year.

AW1 Tim, are you telling me that Ward Churchill was responsible for the Boston Tea Party? How deep does this time machine conspiracy go?
As for Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas, remember that because the Senate was majority (d) Thomas had to receive some Democrat votes to be confirmed. Do you think he’d be confirmed today? I don’t. Look how many Democrats voted against Alito. Alito was accused of what zactly, having sat next to someone in conlaw that later joined the Federalist Society? Going to Princeton when he should have gone to Rutgers like Joe Biden would have if he lived in New Jersey? As tragifarcical as the Hill/Thomas hearing was, can you imagine what it would be like today?
Also, when the Hill allegation first came out I was a first year law student at UGA. I overheard two law professors–I wasn’t trying to easedrop, they were conversing in normal tones in a hallway full of students. One, a sheltered ivory tower contracts geek sorta guy, said to the other, a criminal procedure expert, “Do you think he did it?” Criminal procedure expert answers, “Who cares if it keeps him off the court.” That’s when I became a Republican.
Ah yes Craig, the School of Law at UGA. A haven of bedwetters surrounded by a bastion of conservatism! Heh!
Speaking of UGA (and totally off topic), I don’t know if you’ve been following UGA’s Jeff Emanuel’s embed. With his positive “spin” (re: telling the truth) it do make one wonder if he will have a job at UGA when he gets home!
If he was 6’4″ and could throw a football you know he would! Heh! Jeff is a former Doggie SF guy but even with that handicap he wrote some amazing stuff. Check it out:

OOPS! I called Jeff a Doggie SF guy! He was actually a Chair Force TACP. Those guys are first rate and go where no Taco Bell has gone before! My humble apologies to all the Doggies past, present, and future!
Thanks for that link, Jarheaddad. I was ignorant of Jeff; I don’t keep up with UGA stuff much. All I remember, in fact, is that Athens is a very difficult town in which to be a scholar– or a husband. ( That’s why I’m now neither.) I root for the Dawgs when they play anybody but Auburn, that’s about the size of it. War Eagle.
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread….
Cap’n, et al,
I believe the driving force behind Anita Hill was Eleanor Smeal, then president of NOW and Nina Totenberg of (the Captain’s favorite) NPR. Now, there is certainly no reason for witnesses to not come to a hearing with an ulterior motive. However, the slimeball tactics employed by Hill’s enablers set the standard for the sort of ‘Attack and Refuse’ version of the Constitutional ‘Advise and Consent’ role played by the House of Lords.
Thus proving that, like the Constitutional Amendments authorizing Income Tax and Payroll Deductions, direct election of Senators is a really bad mistake.
Excellent points SD, but why stop short of the goal line? As the lovely and brilliant Ann Coulter pointed out today, if women didn’t have the vote, there’d never be another democrat in the white house.
Jarheaddad, I was poised for a retaliatory strike on your Jarheaddad butt …fortunately for the nation your timely clarification saved the day…so just remember and ponder upon the following… ” if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day… teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer “….Semper Fi. Best
PS, Apology accepted.
Me thinks Ann may not be all that brilliant…
You got some kind of actual numbers to back that up?
Michelle,
Far be it from the father of three daughters and the grandfather of four granddaughters but …
Ann C. has the data to back up her claim. I guess we all have to read her new book to make sure.
Casca,
It has been said that discretion is sometimes the better part of valor.
Ann Coulter, a smart lady well-known for extreme statements and stirring up trouble, says that if America would only disenfranchise women, we’d never have a Democrat president again to contend with. Vintage Coulter. Yes, she’s so intemperately awful, but she tickles me, sometimes.

Missed me around here didn’t you Snake Eater? Heh!
Hey! my Uncle was Army. One of those weird Phoenix types. But he was always strange anyway. Hung me by my heels over the Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge ’cause I was being a brat when I was a kid. And that was before he learned to eat snakes!
Worked too! I straightened right up and then we went and got some crawfish po’boys!
And I still don’t trust him as far as I can throw him to this day!
Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, cast your eyes on the egregiously stupid non-tripod members of the US Senate. 90% of them couldn’t find their ass with both hands, and some mighty large asses they are. The figure is only about 50% among the tripods. I rest my case.
To wander back to the topic, there is no question that Anita Hill would be happier, and the world a better place, were she chained to a stove.
JHD — I just started reading Black Hawk Down, it’s taken me a while to get started since I know how it ends (and it’ll be sad), but it mentions the Phoenix program.
Weird — I read your post and then read my book during lunch, and I was wondering where I had just run into that reference. Just figured it out it was here. Funny how you bump into something and keep bumping into it over and over.
