@Nose: GEN Krulak did speak during OCT 1993 at the Naval Academy. The speech was called "Tattoo on Your Soul". It had Biblical overtones and appealled to officers to be eagles and soar above the mundane. The full transcript is at http://www.geobubble.com/articles/931007_Tattoo_On_Your_Soul.html. I have used it over the years many times when appealling to principles.

Reading this reminded me a bit of a speech I saw (on DVD) of Gen. Krulak speaking at Annapolis. The speech was called something like "Tattoo on your soul"

Anyone else seen that one? - incredibly moving and inspiring.

Chaminade? Possibly the best high school on Long Island.
The Navy still recruits heavily from Chaminade for USNA, and especially for the Lacrosse team. Seems those Chaminade grads know how to weld a stick! I once spoke to the coach of the USNA Lacrosse team and asked him why he was recruiting so heavily from Long Island. He told me that the players knew how to hit better than any other players in the east... He was right.

God Bless them... Ron Winchester, the first USNA KIA in Iraq was a Chaminade grad.

Good story & fitting that the school's namesake (William Joseph Chaminade) displayed some heroism of his own during the Terror (1793-94).
