P-3W: Trust me, I understand what you mean when you say I’m not alone anymore – being to the right of things here in the liberal wasteland that is New England can be a lonely experience. And while most of you may not be here in this corner of the country, some of you are at least on this coast – safety in numbers. Comforting to know that I’m really not alone, even if my company is spread across the nation.
So…given that right now it’s about 12:10pm PST, I’m thinking we have about maybe 18-20 hours countdown now…
Idaho, Thanks… it was very thoughtful of you to ask… and yes I am…my first choice was to go as David…you know like that big assed M-A statue in Florence, Italy…but had to change my plans…weather took a down turn…and Ididn’t want the boys to catch a chill… still not sure yet but times are a passing… thinking of dressing as some type of fatherly figure… kind of a cross between a kindly Saddam Hussein and an old John Wayne…I’m told I have a strong resemblence to both. Guy – Side Boys (from the Blue Jacket’s Manual): only a flag officer rates side boys, and side boys would typically be Marines. 8 for an ADM, 6 for a VADM, 4 for a RADM. Sailors could be used in the absence of a Marine Detachment, but on capital ships usually you’d have Marines. Now a days a senior Captain instead of a Commadore would be the flag officer of a squadron of Destroyers, so he would rate Side Boys. All the above is the same for piping a senior officer aboard ship. Whistle, Attention on Deck, 4, 6, or 8 bells depending on rank.
Now for our favorite aviator. Navy tradition would be 4 bells arriving and departing, and of course, a smart hand salute.We’d have to get him a job that a Commadore would have during war time, then he’d rate side boys.
So I wonder – if Lex wasn’t (gulp) coming back, how long would we keep this thread going anyway?
