A note for those on the other side of the pond who wonder whether the Anglican Communion is salvageable: This sort of thing does nothing for the cause.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

They do grow ‘em big down in the Southern Valley of the Left Coast. I just wonder if VDH ever gets tired of ‘em bangin’ on his heels.
VDH peaked with the “Western Way of War”, the best part of which replicated Delbruck. And after he updates the ABC on elections in India circa 1859, he can discuss the elections of First Philippine Republic. But perhaps scholars on both sides should review their research before beginning pissing contests.
Cheers
Given the overall revisionist history going on in England these days, this doesn’t surprise me at all. They operate on a different system of remembrance I guess…because yes, they also came to the America’s with the idea of cleaning things up, establishing a democracy and in general…
Um yeah, and how did that go for the British?
Lex,
You might as well convert. You have more kids than most Catholics
And there will never be a better year to do it than the year USNA beat ND. You know, to help you remember the dates when you’re older.
I left the “Unitarians in drag” and went to the Anglican Province of America. Best move I ever made.
Well, I’m still hanging in there. My Diocese (Chicago) just elected a new Bishop. He was touted as a moderate, but has just recently delivered himself of this opinion:
““Among the important issues facing the Episcopal Church of course, none is more polarizing than the current debates around sexuality, and like many of us I’ve had to practice my own discernment about what it means to lead a church in which there are strongly held, sometimes radically divergent views about those debates. The first task for a leader, as I’ve said, is to listen. For instance, in the parish I try hard to listen deeply to people who are concerned or troubled by developments in the church around sexuality and what I discover over and over again is that the issue is rarely the real issue. Someone may be deeply troubled about the liberalization of the church’s practice around the full inclusion of gay and lesbian people in the church, but what lies at the root of their misgivings is some hurt or brokenness in their family. Once you uncover that pain in a safe way you can begin to move through it to a place of deeper understanding”.”
That’s moderate? That’s listening to both sides of an issue? The people you agree with are fine and the ones that don’t are broken? Great ….
Hmmm. Think he might see what GOD SAID about everything and base a decision on that?
