Saw this last week. It has to be one of the most incredible films we’ve ever seen. No artifice. Nothing over the top about a single second. Just pure performances in one of the most original stories every conceived.
Oh heck yeah, I’ll be adding this one to my permanent collection. Just simply a perfect film in every way.
My wife was looking at something I’d referred her to on your site and saw your original post. I got “Once” for Christmas from her.
Not my usual type of movie, but I really liked it and will watch it again.
By the way, The Outlaw Josey Wales is also my favorite western. Never got to comment when you had that up earlier. I own that one too. Just about worn out.
I love it when a movie earns its R rating before the titles are shown.

I was in Prague the week after Christmas. A young Czech couple escorted my family to find a certain store, and as we passed a certain square (around the church of “some chick,” the girl said), they noted that a certain forgettable Hollywood flick was shot there. I asked them about “Once,” and they responded lamely, “Yes, we’ve heard of it.”
A prophet in its own country?
