Byron, I like Huckabee's support of the Fair Tax, and have been disappointed in the conclusions reached by other candidates regarding it -- they seem to think that changing the premise under which it is written is a legitimate criticism, rather like propping up a strawman only to knock him down.

But, as Badbob points out, with only three powers held by Washington what are the chances of them giving up one? Yea, like unto a snowflake in hell.

I'd settle for discussions about the upcoming social security crisis. It's underfunded by double-digit trillions of dollars, and hoping for a plague that only affects retired folks is not only unlikely to happen, it's probably not going to get the blue-hairs to vote for ya either.

If all they want is change, then I've got a roll of quarters for every last one of them, if they'll shut up and go away.

Byron,

How long have you been waiting for someone to totally revamp the tax code to something fair and across the board? We hear the same new "old ideas" every 4 years...

Well I hate to tell ya, it ain't gonna happen in your, or my lifetime. Odds are not anyone reading this. Remember S. Forbes, remember P. Graham etc. etc.

Personally I've dropped Huckabee off my radar since he made that weird analogy about Saddams WMD. Like I said above- not ready for prime time. Managing the budget for the Arkansas national Guard is his glass ceiling. Not today..maybe 10-15 years from now.

Max, listen to Huckabee then. He's the only candidate that has publicly spoken out, saying that if elected, his #1 priority will be to get the Fair Tax ammendment passed.

They say they're for change in Washington? Fine. Let's talk about the tax code, because Washington has three powers -- one is to tax, and the other is to compel compliance under the rule of law, the last is to spend that money.

Go ahead, politician -- we're not giving up the power of law just yet, so tell us how you'll change taxation or spending.

We're listening.
