I just wonder if ABC realized how stupid they sound when they say things like that.

Pardon me for recounting this, but I went to an opening Red Sox game some years back. Rumor was they were going to be changing from Fenway Franks to Barney’s Franks. The rude concessionaire said if you didn’t like the way the Barney’s Franks tasted, you could shove them up ur @$$.
it continues to amaze me that somewhere, there are people trying to divine my reaction to a TV screen with buttocks or breasts on it. I can assure all here that while My Good Wife’s breasts and buttocks are indeed a source of some inspiration to me, when the former are being mauled by The Little Barnacle as a source of nourishment I’m not exactly all a-twitter.
Likewise, there are a few movie scenes where buttocks are shown. The gratuitous shower scene in Starship Troopers comes immediately to mind, and was not particularly erotic. Certainly not enough to hit the rewind button to review. Now perhaps Arnie’s sculpted buttocks in the Terminator series are viewed differently by the Lex Babes, but movie demographic information indicates the ladies didn’t flock to the theatre and then leave en mass 13 minutes later.
Much ado about nothing.
Besides, after changing diapers for the past three months I’m afraid I’m having difficulty considering a pic of some buttocks to be, you know, all that interesting.
ABC may have stepped across a line, but that line needs to be changed a bit.

I feel for you. Censoring has crossed the line in all western nations, virtually on all kind of media and issues.
Some days ago I browsed ebay and came across the pilot notes for a Chance Vought F7U Cutlass (I am somewhat a fan of aviation of that age).
I clicked on it and was a told that I was not allowed to view that item because “access to this particular category or item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in your home country” (country = Germany).
Now I do not know, how that 50 year old cold war manual could either contain military secrets or hate-propaganda not suitable for the public …
I’d be curious to know who it is within the FCC that defines what is acceptable, and what is not.
Where are the screen shots so we could decide?
The FCC deems “sexual or excretory activities” shown in an “offensive” way before 2200 as indecent.
Allow me to paraphrase:
“The FCC sees some low hanging fruit on the money tree, and intends to shake said tree for all it’s worth.”

The whole uproar seems to be revolving around damaging the little guy’s mind in the video. Damage? Heh! One lucky little tyke as far as I’m concerned! All we had at his age was National Geographic and that left a lot to be desired!

A bit more than butt, if’n you ask me. Not too bad, really, nor too bad for a film offering, but(t), not yet ready for primetime TV.
I didn’t see the episode in its fullest however the showing looked to be another increment down the slippery slope to pneudraulics demonstrations on TV for all. Lookit all the good it’s done for France and Britain.

Ass cheeks don’t offend me, stupid, puerile TV programs that appeal to the lowest common denominator offend me. I find it odd that the FCC goes out of their way to fine one of the few programs that from time to time could be considered well written.
There was talk about this on The Volokh Conspiracy. With all of the smartasses over there, I was right disappointed that there weren’t more silly butt jokes.

Um, anyone notice this fine is being levied now, for a show that aired 3 years ago… And if I recall, the ‘tocks of Denis Franz were aired many times on NYPD Blue (and Jimmy Smits…). They were controversial at the time, but no one fined them. Double standard. And either way, it’s stupid. NYPD Blue was always aired at 10:00pm, for the precise reason of its rather off-color and intense, mature content.
That was actually one of the few episodes of NYPD Blue that I ever happened to stumble across (not a particular fan of the genre).
I remember reading later that the kid wasn’t all that happy at his part in the scene.
