    Amen to that.

  • How very existentialist of you…

  • I’m not Catholic, I don’t care….

And while my body may return to dust or ashes (haven’t chosen that yet), the me that counts is eternal, thanks to a sacrifice made around 2000 years ago.

I’m going to my Episcopal parish to get ashes imposed tonight. Given the weather, my priest and I might be the only ones there. We were supposed to sing (I’m in the choir, our only tenor), but the music director just called me and told me that our priest has called that off due to the difficulty that our music director will have in getting to the church in time.

So, a said mass tonight, and no choir practice. Frankly, I’ll miss the latter more than the difference between a said and sung mass.

  • oh shit Lex, are you a fellow traveler?

Here’s the test. Finish this: “Peace be with you….”

  • “…and also with you, John. Barkeep! Two guinness here, please.”

    Did I get it right?

Awesome mass for me today in LA. Priest was African (not African American, African). Very cool.

Then, while sitting in a coffee shop in the LAX Sheraton, a cute girl asked me where I had gone to mass. I couldn’t figure out how she knew I had been to mass.

    Duh…

  • The S.O. was sick yesterday as was I -so for yet another year I did not make Ash Wednesday.

I did not realize Easter was so early this year……….

  • Skippy,

    Hello!

Easter is the first Sunday, after the first full moon of the Vernal Equinox that does not coincide with Passover.

Everyone knows that. What, are you new at the religion thing?

  • John ~ …and also with you. I’m not Catholic nor do I play one on TV.

Anyone care to share what their Lenten plans are?

Easter is early this year. Kind of nice, in a way.

  • I gave up potato chips for lent, which I have a weakness for much to the detriment of my waistline. My wife declared she would abstain from alcohol, which is also admirable. Until I pointed out she doesn’t drink anyway.

  • Actually no, I only know it comes in connection with Madi Gras. Which I thought I still had 2 weeks for………

However I spent too many years married to Catholic to ignore it entirely.

As well as 4 years of Baptist sermons in Charleston…………….

Me, I’m giving up…………….I’ll get back to you on that. Booze and sex are definately not one of the items that will be on the “give up list”.

hehe…either ignore it or embrace it…the mind was made to decide. Waste of time on the fence.
