Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Very graceful exit.
Much more graceful than my reaction on hearing it…….
Mitt’s well reasoned and carefully articulated analysis of the situation and decision confirmed that he is, indeed, a class act with the judgment and wisdom that would make a great President.
He did the right thing, for the right reasons, and at the cost of great personal sacrifice, bot in ego and real earned dollars from his own pocket.
He clearly gets the big strategic picture, and is willing to put national interests above personal gain, a quality sadly lacking in all the remaining candidates of both parties.
We shall see of McCain can parlay this into a defeat for his wholly unqualified opponent(s).
Hehe John nhotbb…nice close…
Senor Juan McCain makes a nice Democrat in drag.
I like Lex am a resident of Northern Mexico, so I was quite distressed to hear that it’s in all probability going to go to McCain.
When the President of Mexico endorses you, don’t count on my vote. Looks like I’m voting libertarian this year.
Dammit! My faves are being winnowed out one at a time. First Fred!, then Rudy and now Mitt. Course I won’t pine for Huckabee – when will he see the light anyway – but that does leave us with IMO the least desireable of the Republican candidates.
But I do agree with Lex and others – McCain is the one who could beat HRC. I hope – like pie in the sky apple pie hopes.
I was excited about Fred! but really hoped for Mitt to make it once things got serious in the campaigns. After reading Romney’s withdrawal speech, I’m even more impressed with his character, judgment and world view.
However, McCain is the toughest, and perhaps that’s what Providence needs this election- a belligerent old man who will not back down in the face of the fight to come.
It makes me worry that we’re going to see some terrible things happen in the next few years, before this world war we’re in now gets worked out. I hope it works out well.
Best wishes to all.
Ah, but who will the VP be?
Yeah, just two days after voting for Mitt, he bailed. Perhaps his traction sensors were reading too low.
So, another former aviator will compete for the position. So how come Lex hasn’t gone political, yet, or Skippy-San for that matter?
SJBill, Lex endorsing McCain because he’s an aviator would be like Adm Rickover endorsing Jimmy Carter because he was a NucE grad at Annapolis. Neither of them would endorse based upon something as flimsy as a mere former job description.
Of course, one is dead and the other is strictly non-partisan, so this isn’t exactly a scenario we need fear. Just saying, the resume gets you in the door but endorsements from this bunch are personal recommendations and those don’t come without first-hand knowledge.
