SJBill, Lex endorsing McCain because he's an aviator would be like Adm Rickover endorsing Jimmy Carter because he was a NucE grad at Annapolis. Neither of them would endorse based upon something as flimsy as a mere former job description.

Of course, one is dead and the other is strictly non-partisan, so this isn't exactly a scenario we need fear. Just saying, the resume gets you in the door but endorsements from this bunch are personal recommendations and those don't come without first-hand knowledge.

Yeah, just two days after voting for Mitt, he bailed. Perhaps his traction sensors were reading too low.

So, another former aviator will compete for the position. So how come Lex hasn't gone political, yet, or Skippy-San for that matter? ;-)

I was excited about Fred! but really hoped for Mitt to make it once things got serious in the campaigns. After reading Romney's withdrawal speech, I'm even more impressed with his character, judgment and world view.

However, McCain is the toughest, and perhaps that's what Providence needs this election- a belligerent old man who will not back down in the face of the fight to come.

It makes me worry that we're going to see some terrible things happen in the next few years, before this world war we're in now gets worked out. I hope it works out well.

Best wishes to all.

Dammit! My faves are being winnowed out one at a time. First Fred!, then Rudy and now Mitt. Course I won't pine for Huckabee - when will he see the light anyway - but that does leave us with IMO the least desireable of the Republican candidates.

But I do agree with Lex and others - McCain is the one who could beat HRC. I hope - like pie in the sky apple pie hopes.

I like Lex am a resident of Northern Mexico, so I was quite distressed to hear that it's in all probability going to go to McCain.

When the President of Mexico endorses you, don't count on my vote. Looks like I'm voting libertarian this year.
