  • Lex,
I’m a Navy Civilian here at NASWI. Been here since ’73, txfrd from NAS Alameda, ECMO in A-3, transitioned to Prowlers. USS Ranger deployments, ’74-76. ’78 IECMO, Q129. Been a simple servent (GS) after that. Working daily as a Safety Program Manager around our cadre of Prowler/Aeries/Orions/SeaHawk maintainers is a fantastic way to watch our Service mature.
I greatly enjoy your view of the world through your daily blog. I monitor it at chow and work breaks. Press On.
Looking forward to our transition to the Growler.
We have an active ANA Squadron here and if you’re ever in the area, we have room for ya.

Those warm cat tracks were a good place for a battle nap between the last 2 recoveries of the night. F-4 main tires did an OK job as a pillow.

I understand that standing in the steam is wonderful for the complexion…

  • The greasy steam smell is what I always pick up first after I return back out to sea. Now I have been out to see so long that I can’t smell it anymore. Those are the best days up there on the roof dancing around trying to get my jets airborne. Then the waiting around for them to return; gas’em, bleed in them, and shoot them off for the night patrol. Loads of fun.
