The Naval Academy today announced the selection of Capt. Matthew L. Klunder, a naval aviator now based at the Pentagon, to be its 83rd commandant of midshipmen…
Klunder, a native of Alexandria, Va., graduated from the academy in 1982 with a major in physics. He has a master’s degree in aerodynamics and aviation systems from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Naval War College.
Klunder now serves on the staff of the deputy chief of naval operations for information, plans and strategy.

He will be relieving my classmate Peggy, er, RDML Klein. She has not been too popular among the Mids, because she changed some policies back to the way things were when we were there.
Of course, everyone knows that ’81 was the last class to have a REAL Plebe year.
He’s a Hummer driver, huh? He does seem rather qualified academically for the position.
Sounds qualified. We’ll see how it plays out.
Lex- Do you know Rob Niewoehner? He’s an 0-6 from ’82 who’s at Boat Skool now. Just wonderin’ if you might have a sea story or two involving “Knockers”.
