The ship was in Subic outbound to the Gulf and I was flying back to San Diego for outprocessing. Everyone was working 'round the clock and didn't need the extra work to plan a party. The morning Ranger got underway, I was the last one ashore, then I personally cast off the last line. Thats the way to leave. The last four weeks back in SD was just marking time.
