Observative readers may have noted that access to the premises was temporarily suspended for a while there. My hosting service reported that a php function was making excessive demands on their server and pulled the plug, like. Without telling me which function was the bad actor. So.
In an act of naked expediency masquerading as contrite propitiation, I have disabled both the Live Comment Preview plug-in (which used javascript and should not have unduly loaded the server) and the comment editing feature (which used Ajax, and thus might have had a role).
You, gentle reader, are left to fend for yourself in the spelling and editing department.
Update: One of the things you discover when you’ve really got to get under the hood is that there are people who find it easier to “hot link” pictures from your server than copy them. This is called bandwidth theft, and it’s an online no-no. A number of folks thought Che Guevara was super-smokey-cool, and lifted an image I had of him for their own use. Of course, that renders them liable to a little tricksieness of our own, precious.
“Who does not have the courage to dream, does not have the courage to fight!”
Indeed.
Update 2: They’re still having problems at my hosting site. I got an “Exceeded CPU Quota” message, dialed up tech support and was told that I was #20 in the tech support queue.
I’ve always like the word “queue,” by the way. If not the actual meaning of it. It’s kind of whimsical how many letters they use after the only one you really need…

I knew all would be well, but must confess to some – heart palpitations at the site of the words “website suspended”. Gack!
Does this mean I am addicted? Surely not. But if so, where do I find a Lex Babes Rehab center near me…
All I know is that the website is responding significantly slower than I am used to.
Have your GEEK enable “Hot Link Protection” in your admin/CPANEL site backend. I use the same back end system (CPANEL) that your site uses. This should help. Personally I don’t use the Hot Link Protection as I prefer to have oooodles of bandwidth (my own server), but your host tends to get their knickers in a bunch, make a change, and let you know about it afterward.
Shoot me an email if you have more ??s
Kinda vain to substitute a self-portrait, dontcha think?
Lex,
Oh, I like your trickseeness. Very precious indeed what the nasty hobbitses has in his pocketses.
Ah. I was worried that you’d started a new job, and your corporate masters had made you retire the blog….
When I spot hotlinking, I generally substitute an image of Ming the Merciless, especially if the original image was something cute.
Beavis speaks German!
My children wondered why I was pacing the room, muttering ‘My precious is gone. They tooks it!”
I am now calm. Whew! I do miss the edit feature, but ce la vi.
Number “4″ works well as a queue prefix for those ijjits. Us guys use “Thang” as a queue prefix for your blog.
